The Perfect Red Lip...

Red lips just ooze glamour and add that little bit of oomph to a simple outfit. Have a read of this post to find out my favourite products and tricks to create the perfect red lip ...

What's on my iPhone?...

I saw this tag video on one of my recent YouTube catch-up sessions and thought it would transpire well into a blog post. I love seeing what apps people use on a day to day basis so here's what my iPhone 5 is loaded up with: ...

Event: #shhealthysmile at Everyman Cinema

At the beginning of the month, I was invited down to the Everyman Cinema in Leeds by the lovely team over at Simplyhealth to enjoy a good ol' giggle with my Sister...

YourTea Tiny Tea Teatox

So here we are 7 days into my Tiny Tea Teatox and I've really enjoyed it! The first thing I noticed is how much my skin has cleared up. I genuinely didn't think that this was a benefit of the tea, considering it is essentially a 'weight loss' system ...

Coral Ombre Nails

Not a perfect ombré, but these colours look so good together that I can forgive the fact that I don't have five perfectly gradiented coral tones in my nail polish collection ...

Monthly Favourites: June 2011 Edition...

So that's one more month down in 2011, and might I say this year has literally flown by! We're more than half way through this year already and I feel like it's gone in a flash.

This is my first ever 'Monthly Favourites' post and I'm quite excited to show you all what I've been loving this month of June:

Favourite Make Up Products:
  • Face: Benefit Posie Tint
I thought I'd really be loving my NARS Orgasm, but I've been loving this Tint by Benefit as a base to any Blush. As it's a stain, it doesn't move and has made sure my Blush doesn't move in the hot weather, best of all it was a freebie! Although I am considering buying the full size when I eventually run out of this little sample.
  • Lips: M.A.C. Cremesheen Lipstick in Creme Cup

Gorgeous! Have been wearing in since I bought it on my Birthday. Such a wearable colour that goes with any make up look.
  • Eyes: Urban Decay Naked Palette

Again, another product which I've used everyday since I bought it. It's so versatile and can create so many looks. I don't think I'll ever get bored of this palette!

Favourite Hair Product:
  • John Frieda Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray

My blonde saviour! This product has single handedly saved me from orange roots and has reduced the need to go to the hairdressers for colouring.

Favourite Skin Care Product:
  • Garnier Pure Active Exfo-Brusher Wash
I have been using this product for so long now and it is still working for me. The brush gives a deep cleanse and the salicylic acid keeps spots at bay and reduces the redness of any breakouts I might have.

Favourite Nail Polish:
  • Barry M Hologram Hexagrams

I wore this on my Birthday and loved it! Layered it up so much that my nails looked like little disco balls. I received so many compliments when I wore it and will wear it so much more on its own now.

Favourite Scent:
  • Flora by Gucci

Such a pretty fragrance, which keeps on getting compliments. Light enough for summer but still strong enough that it's still on the skin by the end of the day.

Favourite Clothing Item:
  • Sheer Chiffon Blouses

These are just so easy to wear and so versatile. Whenever I've been stuck for something to wear, I choose these and I'm good to go.

Favourite Food:
  • Peanut Butter
Words cannot describe how obsessed I am with peanut butter, I know it's a love hate product (like Marmite) but I love it! Yummy!

Favourite Song:
  • Nicola Roberts - Beat Of My Drum

So so catchy and so different from Girls Aloud. I think Nicola Roberts album is going to be a good one and possibly the soundtrack to my Summer.

Favourite Blog(s):
  • Blush Crush
  • Laurens' Dressing Room

This was a difficult one as there are so many blogs at the moment which I am really loving! Both Chloe (Blush Crush) and Lauren (Lauren's Dressing Room) have such a great style to their writing and are both beautiful and funny! I have found myself skipping to their blogs first as soon as they post and I think you all should too :) Addicted to you girlies!

There it is, my collection of loveliness for this month, hope you liked! Don't forget to post some of your favourites in the comments.

Much Love,

Some Storage Inspiration...

After seeing this pretty photo on Lauren Conrad's Blog, I was feeling all inspired as to creative jewellery storage!

I am about to start decorating our bedroom (not literally, but in the next month or so) and I'm trying to organise all of my ideas so I know what to buy and what I want, so I don't end up going crazy mad with spending.

This is the wallpaper style I am going for on one feature wall of our bedroom, where the bed will be:

As the rest of the room will be the standard 'off-white' colour, I've been trying to think of ideas which will fill up the wall space without it looking too much or conflicting with the wallpaper, and the above photo totally inspired me!

Whilst I don't have huge amounts of jewellery, I think that displaying the prettier pieces is such a great idea, and it will definitely add more to my make up area.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Taking direct inspiration from the photograph, using photo frames. A lot of jewellery on the high street is so decorative in its own right, so why hide it away right? They are there own little art pieces! This frame would definitely fit the theme of our room.

  • Dotting decorative knobs or hooks on the wall, to hang pretty necklaces on. I think that this would look so cute, and definitely unusual. This may be an idea that I carry to my bathroom if it looks too much in the bedroom, as I could hang towels on them etc.
  • Using a pretty bowl to show off some rings and bangles. I see this a lot when I watch/read dressing table videos/blogs and I always think it looks so effective and plus its practical! You can see exactly what you've got and is great for someone like me, who constantly leaves things out!
What do you think?

Much Love,
Lauran

Rimmel Glam'Eyes: Day 2 Night Mascara...

Rimmel Glam'Eyes Day 2 Night Mascara in 002 Brown/Black £7.99 (Superdrug)
There has been such buzz about these kinds of mascaras recently, the 2 looks in 1 wonder-scaras. To be honest, I held off trying this as I never have much faith in this kind of product. They sometimes feel gimmicky and attempting to do too much, whilst never really achieving anything.

However, I grabbed this as I was wondering around Superdrug on my lunch break as I'd heard good things about it, and given the fact I have never disliked a Rimmel product (aside from the Match Perfection Highlighting Concealer)I thought it could do no wrong to try. I actually accidentally picked up the colour Brown/Black by mistake (a happy one as it turns out) but I'll talk about that in a bit.

Anyway, I have been pleasantly surprised by this product. Firstly, it works with the same brush and formula, but the cap which the lengthening side comes out of, has a excess wiper, and so removes almost all of the product before it goes on the lashes. Really, when you take out both caps and pull them apart, you can see just how much excess product comes out, it's crazy!

The 'Length' Cap
The excess product removed using this cap!
I absolutely love the lengthening side. My lashes get separated perfectly and look lovely and lengthened without a clump in sight. I'm not too crazy about the volume side however, as it is a bit too clumpy for my liking, I feel like I've encountered far better volumizing mascaras in my time.

The 'Volume' Cap (You can see just how much more product comes out!)
Here's some photos showing the two looks you can create using this mascara:
Left: Length
Right: Volume
The difference isn't totally noticeable on these pics I know, but just look how pretty the left eye looks, like I have long false lashes on!

Now onto the colour. I have ALWAYS used black mascaras, and have never even contemplated using a brown, however, my eyes have literally been opened to the world of brown mascara. It delivers a far softer look, which is great for the day and perfect for summer, helping to frame those Summery 'No Make Up' make up looks whilst still looking natural. I will always use black mascara, however I can see myself picking up a brown one more often, I love the effect it gives.

I think I will be picking up this mascara in the black as well, as I do have a £2 off voucher for it from Boots which I need to use before September.

What are your thoughts on 2 in 1 mascaras and using brown instead of black?

Small Haul: Superdrug, Sleek and MeMeMe...

It's a small haul I know, but still, I thought you all might want to see what I picked up on Friday.
  1. Superdrug 100% Pure Cotton Wool Double Faced Pads
  2. Dettol Healthy Touch Hand Hygiene Gel
  3. Sleek Pout Polish in Monte Carlo
  4. Sleek Blush in Aruba
  5. MeMeMe Blush Me! in Coral
I picked up the cotton as I was running low and it is an essential nail and skincare product for me, and the Dettol Hand Sanitiser was only 19p from Home Bargains so I thought it would be great to keep in my bag.

On to the products...

From Top to Bottom: Sleek Pout Polish in Monte Carlo, Sleek Blush
in Aruba and MeMeMe Blush Me in Coral
I've heard so many great things about Sleek products and have been itching to give them a go, but every time I go in to pick something up, the stand is bare!

The Pout Polishes are an SPF 15 Tinted Lip Conditioner, which come in a array of colours. This is Monte Carlo from the Mediterranean Collection, a gorgeous hot pink which you can see from the above swatch, is a lot more sheer. It is still really pretty on the lips and leaves a great colour whilst still feeling moisturising. The fact it has SPF is great if you're out in the sun a lot too

I had a slight shopping FAIL with this one. I thought I was getting the matching blush from the Mediterranean Collection, but quite clearly this is not it! Damn people putting things back in the wrong place. This is in fact the colour Aruba from the Caribbean Collection. It is a colour which I would never usually pick up, and although very scary looking from the swatch, blended out it will look beautiful. It is bang on trend for this Summer and can double as an eyeshadow if you'd like to fully rock out the look and channel some 80's goodness. I may even try out an orange look for you all and post it here.

Finally for the make up, I picked up this Coral blush from the famous Benefit-a-like MeMeMe. These boxed blushes have always been a dupe for Benefit Boxed Blushes, however, I think the fact that they have a mirror in the lid, puts this above them in the practicality stakes. This blush is a lovely pink-coral (rather than orange) with slight gold shimmer, and again a gorgeous Summer colour. I will love using this I think as it can be built up and will bring a nice highlight to the skin.

What are your Pay Day picks?

My GlossyBox: June 2011 Edition...

Okay so I started writing this at 12:37pm, approximately 7 mins after the Posty dropped this off at my door. Excitement is not the word... I literally squealed at him... Dread to think what he thought!

For all of you who have been away from the Blogosphere, GlossyBox is a subscription service which allows you to try deluxe samples every month for a teeny tiny price of £10 a month. I have been lusting after a service like this after watching YouTube videos of the US Birch Box and so am ecstatic to be a part of this.

First off, how beautiful is the packaging! The company obviously cares about its image and this definitely radiates luxury. From the gorgeous logo emblazoned postal box, to the tissue wrapped, ribbon-tied products, the attention to detail is perfect.

This box is the "5 Summer Essentials" and contains 5 lovely sized products:

  1. OPI Designer Series Mini in Coronation
  2. BioEffect EGF Serum
  3. Batiste Dry Shampoo in Original
  4. Lalique Perles de Lalique Eau De Parfum
  5. Rouge Bunny Rouge Mini Lip Gloss in Secret Places of Love 054
Available from www.lenawhite.co.uk
As a Nail Polish lover, I <3 the Mini OPI! It is a gorgeous silvery platinum with diamond glitter specks, absolutely beautiful. Will be lovely on its own and over the top of lighter polishes to add a glittery sparkle to it.

The lip gloss is beautiful too. It says it's a mini, but it is of a decent size being 7ml. It is a lovely peachy-pink-coral colour with gold shimmers, perfect for summer and a great tan enhancing colour. The formula is filled with vitamins and oils to hydrate and plump the lips. The packaging of this is again so pretty yet simple.

Available from www.zuneta.com
The product I'm most excited to try out is the little BioEffect bottle. This alone is worth £30, and although it states it is an an anti-aging type product it is suitable for all skin types and promises to stimulate the growth of new skin cells leading to an improved complexion. Sounds very interesting indeed. Expect a full review of this as soon as it's used up!

I'm already a great Batiste fan and so this little handbag sized one is a great addition to the box and definitely a summer essential! Finally the little sample of perfume is very fresh and light smelling, slightly rosy and slightly sweet. The full sized bottle retails for around £50 and is something I'd probably never try, but it sometimes take someone else to point something out for you.
A little excerpt from the Lalique book which came in the box.
Overall, I'm so happy with GlossyBox and all of the products I have received and cannot wait until next month! It looks like each box may be different, or even tailored to the subscriber so I'm looking forward to reading everyone else's thoughts.

Share your GlossyBox finds below and what are your favourites this month?

A Nars A Day Keeps The Doctor Away...

How well does my boyfriend know me ... Really!

I got the lovely Bronzers Trio Palette from Nars! You can imagine the excitement I had when I opened it!

So pretty! So this palette includes three products which I know Nars for;
• Orgasm - A gorgeous pink-peach toned blush with gold shimmer.
• Albatross - A gold toned highlighting powder.
• Laguna - A universally flattering slightly gold shimmered bronzer.

These three products look so beautiful on the skin. I mean my complexion looked immediately different, really glowing and bronzed. I have literally fallen in love with it and I've only had it a day! I never usually go for things with a shimmer, but I'm so pleasantly surprised and I can see why the beauty community love these three products.

The only downside is the packaging. I mean it's lovely and handbag friendly, but the fabric just attracts dirt. Other than that I love it and no doubt my boyfriend has set me up for a lifetime of wanting to try more and more of their products.

Much Love,

TAG: What's In My Make Up Bag?...

I've labelled this as a TAG as it is one that usually pops up on the YouTube beauty community and it's one type of video that I love to watch. I love knowing what products people use on a day-to-day basis and how much stuff it is possible to fit in one tiny make up bag!

Anyways, onto "What's In My Make Up Bag?"

  • Make Up Bag from Primark
  • Carex Hand Gel in Aloe Vera - Especially when applying make up out and about it is important to have clean hands. Really want to try the Soap & Glory one.
  • Benefit Minis in BeneTint, High Beam and PosieTint
  • Urban Decay Naked Palette - Holy grail, enough said.
  • Solait Maxi Bronzer in Golden Glow
  • Rimmel Stay Matte in 001 Transparent - A great setting powder and has the additional bonus of keeping skin matte.
  • Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in 51 Light Vanilla
  • Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer in 1 Fair - Not much has to be said about this concealer, it conceals everything, definitely a staple every girl should have in her make up bag.
  • L'Oreal Lash Architect 4D Mascara in Black
  • L'Oreal Super Liner Carbon Gloss in Carbon Black (I think)- Literally my favourite liquid eyeliner ... EVER...
  • Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in 26 Noir
  • E.L.F Studio Blush in Tickled Pink
  • Maybelline Dream Touch Blush in Berry - I really didn't like this when I bought it but now I love it applied with a stippling brush it gives a lovely flush to the cheeks.
  • Barry M  Lip Gloss in LE 3 - Smells, tastes and looks amazing.
  • Figs & Rouge Balm in Rambling Rose - Great all purpose product for lips, hands, eyebrows, the list goes on and on.
  • 2 Blonde Hair Grips (Boots)- Because you never know when a hair emergency may arise ;)

Obviously thinks get switched up a lot depending on which of the blushes i'm wearing and my glosses and mascara change a lot too.

So, I TAG:

L'Oreal Studio Secrets Smoothing Resurfacing Primer...

I've said before, I'm really new to the world of primers. I haven't ever tried out one for the face and have only ever used the Urban Decay Primer Potion as as base for my eyeshadows. As the heat is rising it is becoming all the more important to me to find something that will hold my make up in place all day.

I have been trailing the L'Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Smoothing Resurfacing Primer (£14.29) for about 6 weeks now, as I think you really need to give these products a good go before you say whether you love or hate them. This primer is aimed at a more mature market as it is meant to mask wrinkles as well as smooth over any uneven textures in the skin. However it has worked perfectly on my 'almost' 20-year-old skin.

The product itself is really smooth and it glides onto the skin and leaves it feeling AMAZING. I couldn't stop feeling it the first time I wore it, it was so smooth and velvety. It easily blended into the skin, and a little product does go a long way.

I did find that after using this my make up stayed on longer and my foundation and powder etc did not need retouching as much as usual. My natural oils were also controlled, not in a way which kept me matte all day, but where it left me 'dewy' as the day went on. I felt that blemished could be covered so much easier when I used this, they had a better texture (sounds gross I know) and so concealing was far easier.

After using this everyday for 6 weeks I still have more than half of the product left too! Great value for money in my opinion. I would definitely recommend this to you with older skin, as the silicone texture will fill in any creases you may have and provide a great flawless base for your make up.

L'Oreal have a great range of primers for every skin problem: A mattifying one for oily skin, a green one for redness in the skin and a pink or peach tinted one for evening out light or medium skin tones. There are so many primers out there, whether you are looking for high-end or high-street, there will be one to suit your needs. They are a definite must for those long Summer days ahead of us.

I want to give some other primers a go, what would you recommend for combination skin?

Glamour Magazine: Benefit Giveaway...

Three Benefit products for £6... Need I say any more?

This lovely gift comes courtesy of Glamour Magazine and Benefit giving a way one of their cult products: BeneTint, PosieTint or High Beam with every magazine this month. Me being all eager bought all three as I'd never tried any of them, and for £2 a piece I couldn't complain.

When it comes to products like this, especially those at the higher price point, it's great when we can trial them and decide whether or not they are worth the money.

The full sized products are £24.50 for 12.5ml and that's a whole lot of product, and rather a large price tag for something that will take you a fair while to use up if you don't love it. These samples are each 4ml, perfect handbag size and lets face it, have very pretty packaging!

On to the products:

  • High Beam - "Luminescent Complexion Enhancer" Can be placed on the cheekbones or any where worthy of a highlight for a lovely dewy glow.
  • BeneTint - Rose tinted lip and cheek stain. For those who like stronger cheek colours.
  • PosieTint - Poppy-pink tinted lip and cheek stain. Much more summery and a natural flush of colour.

I tried out BeneTint whilst I was at work on my lips and I really loved it. I think that if I get to the end of these samples and I have really loved them I will purchase the full sized ones. They're great quality and the full sized one would definitely last a LONG time.

So girls, if you want to bag a beauty bargain this month nip down to your nearest newsagents this month and pick up a (or three) Glamour Magazine. You won't be disappointed.

Much Love,
Lauran
