What's on my iPhone?...

I saw this tag video on one of my recent YouTube catch-up sessions and thought it would transpire well into a blog post. I love seeing what apps people use on a day to day basis so here's what my iPhone 5 is loaded up with: ...

Event: #shhealthysmile at Everyman Cinema

At the beginning of the month, I was invited down to the Everyman Cinema in Leeds by the lovely team over at Simplyhealth to enjoy a good ol' giggle with my Sister...

YourTea Tiny Tea Teatox

So here we are 7 days into my Tiny Tea Teatox and I've really enjoyed it! The first thing I noticed is how much my skin has cleared up. I genuinely didn't think that this was a benefit of the tea, considering it is essentially a 'weight loss' system ...

Coral Ombre Nails

Not a perfect ombré, but these colours look so good together that I can forgive the fact that I don't have five perfectly gradiented coral tones in my nail polish collection ...

Soap & Glory Peace Hand Love...

What could be better for winter, cold stricken hands? Soap & Glory's Peace Hand Love gift set of course! This cute twosome consists of their gorgeous Hand Food (250ml) hand cream and Wash Your Hands Of It (250ml) liquid hand soap on a little sink-side metal rack. This was only £8 from ASOS (now £10) and it's also in Boots for £10 on their 3 for 2 gift promotion.

This set will make a great gift as well as a welcome addition to any kitchen or bathroom sink. The hand soap has shea butter, silk, lime-tree blossom and skin conditioners, used in conjunction with Hand Food, hands are left feeling hydrated and nourished with that gorgeously distinctive Soap & Glory scent. I can't stop smelling my hands!

The cute packaging and handy holder makes this a fab addition to my bathroom and I can see myself re-purchasing refills pretty quickly! Soap & Glory have some lovely gift sets this Christmas to suit all budgets and with make-up, spa and anti-ageing lines there will definitely be something in this brand that everyone will love and appreciate this Christmas.

What do you think? What are your favourite Soap & Glory products?

Revlon Facets of Fuchsia...

Today's NOTD comes from my newest polish purchase, Revlon's Facets of Fuchsia, how pretty! It's a gorgeous black base with a combination of purple glitters and hexagonal 'sequins'. It's definitely a more subtle and wintry way of wearing the glitter trend on your nails this season.

This is two coats with no top coat on, and I just love the colour. The two types of glitter add another dimension to the polish, which is an unusual finish for a high street polish.

What do you think? What are your favourite winter glitters?

Ooh La La: Primark French Nails...

During a little shopping trip with my sister this week, we popped into Primark and saw these lovelies. She is planning on going out tonight and as they were only £1 for 24 nails including glue she thought it daft not to pick them up and give them a go!

They are a really nice pink toned, natural french manicure finish with a printed white tip. There are a good range of sizes in each pack and fit nicely against the cuticle. The nails aren't too long either, making them really easy to apply. The only downside? ... The glue is just plain awful. As soon as she'd finished applying the nails one had come off and when she was trying on some outfits, another came off too. I suppose you can't expect the best of quality for just £1, but if you had your own nail glue, these would be perfect, as the actual nails are really strong.

Here's the finished product. I think they look really polished and not overly fake either which is always a plus point.

What do you think? Have you tried anything from the Primark Beauty range?

Much Love,

P.s. Thanks to the little sis' for letting me annoy her and take photos :)

Models Own for Diet Coke...

A far cry from the usual Nails Inc. for Diet Coke, Models own have taken up the spot, and may have just won us all over with their Christmas Kisses Collection.

Photo taken from
There are four glosses on offer, one available with every two bottles of Diet Coke you purchase in Boots. I have managed to pick up two of the luscious glosses so far, Golden Nude and Glossy Pink:

Golden Nude
Glossy Pink
They are super pigmented and not at all sticky on the lips but have great staying power, along with a lovely scent. I can't wait to pick up the other two colours, Pure Plum and Lacquer Red which are perfect colours for autumn/winter. Whilst I did love getting some Nails Inc. with my Diet Coke, they seem to be giving them away left, right and centre in magazines at the moment, so a gloss is definitely a welcome change for me.

Make sure you pick one up whist they're still in stock!

My Glossybox: November 2011 Edition...

A little late (but better late than never)it's Glossybox time!

The theme of this month's box is 'The Christmas Gift Guide: Part 1', 5 products to try before you buy (whether for yourself or others). This theme is split between the November and December boxes and is designed to help us decide what to give and put on our wish lists this festive season. Here's what I got in mine:

  • Nail Rock Designer Nail Wraps in Leopard Print
  • Dead Sea Spa Magik Dead Sea Bath Salts
  • Arbonne FC5 Cooling Foot Créme
  • Monu Skin Perfector
  • Serge Lutens L'Eau Serge Lutens and Vitriol d'Oeillet

I really like using nail wraps and leopard is a design I've not tried yet so I'm looking forward to giving these a go. They always have such an impact when they're on and are definitely eye-catching in this print. These are a full sized product and can be bought for £6.65 here.

I've never used bath salts before, but from reading the packaging they seem to have a bunch of skin and muscle benefits, from alleviating dry skin conditions and aching joints to toning skin. Who doesn't like a nice relaxing bath anyway? I think I might have to bust out some Lush products too! This is a 250g sample, the full sized 1kg salts are priced at £5.50 and can be bought here

This smells so minty! Its much thinner in consistency in comparison to Soap & Glory Heel Genius, but it has more of a cooling effect. It'll be great to use the morning after the night before when feet are recovering from those 6inches! This is a 15ml sample and the full sized 118ml product retails for £19.00 here.

This is the product I am most interested in trying out. I all for primers at the moment and at £16.25 here (this is full sized at 50ml), I'm expecting great things from it. It claims to give a soft focus effect, smooth lines, hydrate, aid repair and combat premature ageing. A lot to live up to there! I'll definitely be posting a full review on this when I've used it more. From first impressions, it smells lovely and has the same sort of consistency (but thinner) to the Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer.

I always feel let down by the fragrance samples in these boxes, they're just never to my taste. These are both unisex fragrances which in my opinion always seem to be too masculine for girls and too feminine for guys. I'm super jel of all the ladies that got to sample the new Illamasqua Freak perfume though! I'm going to have to track that down somewhere, it sounds like its lovely. The full sized versions (which are beautifully packaged) retail for £86.00 and £78.00 from House of Fraser for 100ml.

I think this box is a pretty well balanced, and I'll definitely enjoy using everything (aside from the perfumes).I'm really looking forward to the "special surprise Christmas Glossybox" lined up for December and excited to see what the lovely Glossy team have thought of.

Glitter and Sequins...

Unless you've been walking around with your fashion blinkers on, you can't help but notice the sheer amount of glitter and sequins on the high street at the moment. I went on a little (window) shopping trip with my sister and fell in love with so many sparkly pieces.

  1. Nude Sequin Bodice Dress - £65 Miss Selfridge
  2. Sequin Wrap Dress - £35 Boohoo
  3. Sequin Bodycon Dress - £58 Topshop
  4. Asymmetric Sequin Dress - £55 Rare
  5. Skirt - £165 All Saints
  6. Sequin Front Vest - £32 Topshop
  7. Sequin Overlay Top - £38 Topshop
  8. Cap Sleeve Dress - £295 All Saints
Between Christmas and New Year, a sequin dress is a necessity! The All Saints one is STUNNING, but at a whopping £295 it's a smidge out of my price range (when you pick up the dress you can understand why it costs so much, it weighs a tonne!). For daytime sequins, the two Topshop vests are perfect paired with skinny jeans, a neutral blazer and nude courts. My favourite by far, not only for its shape, but for being less than £50 is the gorgeous Boohoo wrap dress. I think I'll definitely be working this on New Year's Eve.

  1. Multi Glitter Wedges - £68 Schuh
  2. Sequin Peter Pan Collar Necklace - £14 Miss Selfridge
  3. Glitter Toe Cap Pumps - £15.99 New Look

  5. Glitter Heel Court Shoes - £65 Schuh
  6. Models Own Glitter Polishes - £10 River Island
  7. Glitter Wedge Peep Toe - £24.99 New Look
How amazing are the Wedge Peep Toes from New Look?! I tried them on today and fell in love! Definitely a payday purchase right there. Accessories-wise, peter pan collars are great for updating plain shirts and they are dotted about everywhere from Primark to H&M. Last but not least, the glitter trend cannot be complete without nails and glitter nails are definitely having a moment right now. Models own have a great range of colours and are cheap alternative to OPI.

What are your favourite glitter and sequined pieces at the moment? Will you be sporting them this festive season?

Label Love: Boohoo...

Boohoo, oh how I've underestimated you! Here are some of the lovely things I've found online in the past few days that I've completely fallen in love with, and with nothing coming in over £25 (I think) they're all absolute bargains!

My favourite two pieces are those which make up the outfit in Number 1: The Lydia Animal Skater Skirt (£15) and the Katie Sequin Front Vest (£18). Together they look amazing but as separates, they can be incorporated in so many ways.

I'm really loving printed tights at the moment and the star print ones, in Number 6 (£7), are my fave! They'd look great with denim shorts and an oversized granddad cardi.

The deep plum colour of the handbag (Number 7) drew me to it instantly, it's just such an autumnal colour and will go with everything. It comes in a range of colours too and at just £25 each you can afford to treat yourself to more than one!

Here's the links and prices to the rest of the items I've picked:
2. Military Button Blazer £20
3. PVC and Jersey Leggings £15
4. Aztec Waterfall Cardigan £20
5. Heart Print Tights £7
8. Studded Shoulder Jumper £25
9. Brogue Ankle Boots £25
10. Contrast Lapel Blazer £25
11. Tassel Frame Bag £20

I'm A Barbie Girl...

A lovely pink and sparkly NOTD from me here, quite inappropriate for the time of year, but there's something about hot pink on my nails that instantly makes me happy.

The pink is Barry M's Shocking Pink and the shatter is Models Own Smash Up Silver. I bought these rhinestones from eBay, they're 1.5mm and were only 99p for 200! I used clear polish (Collection 2000 2 in 1 Top Coat) as I didn't have any nail clue, to stick them on but they seem to be on quite securely. I'm going to buy some 2mm ones as these were unbelievably awkward and fiddly to put on!

What do you think?

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation...

I did a review of the original Healthy Mix here, so when I saw they'd released a new version I had to give it a go.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum £10.99
When I first bought this I HATED it! I had really bad skin at the time and this is such a light coverage foundation, that it did nothing for me, however, saying this, I watched a Lisa Eldridge YT Video a couple of weeks back (link here) about how to properly disguise acne with make up and since then, this foundation has worked absolute wonders!

The fact that it is so light means that it does not clog my pores and cause any further breakouts and the addition of some lovely fruity ingredients means it truly lives up to the 'healthy' name tag.

Like I said earlier, it is a really light coverage foundation which evens out skin tone, dulls down redness and gives a dewy finish to the skin. I have been using this in conjunction with my saviour concealer of the moment, the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer in the colour Fair 1 (for under the eyes) and Light 2 (for concealing blemishes) and these products just seem to work so well together leaving me with a near on flawless complexion.

I can't speak high enough of this foundation, I absolutely love it!

"Someday I Hope to Make the Perfect Crème Brûlée"...

Cheesy High School Musical quote right there, but when I took this product into work the other day, we broke into song about it. I'm sure you've seen a tonne about this already, but OMG it smells ahhhmazing! So christmassy and scrumptious, it's already got a spot in my handbag and I can totally see myself using it all up this winter. It's on sale now in Boots and Superdrug for £2.99.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Spot Stress Skin Care...

Full time 3rd year uni student + full time work = STRESS = Bad skin :( I have suffered from bad skin for a few years now and it goes through cycles of being okay and really bad. So, I've been trying out a few new products recently from the Neutrogena range.

They were on 3 for 2 in Boots when I bought them (but sadly aren't at the moment), so I picked up the Daily Scrub (£4.59), Oil-Free Moisturiser (£4.25) and the Rapid Treatment Gel (£3.99), and using all three, two times a day, my skin did improve.

I loved the moisturiser, it calmed down the redness from breakouts and evened out my skin-tone whilst hydrating it. The fact that it is oil-free means that it won't be amazing on all of you with dry skin types, but perfect if you're oily and acne prone. The gel is clear and works in the same way as PanOxyl, but less harsh. It stings, but when I wake up the next day any spots are dramatically reduced and less red.

I must admit, I am the worst at keeping at a skin care routine and ensuring I do all steps everyday, but I've tried to keep this up and since I have been, any breakouts are less noticeable and clear up much faster. I would definitely recommend these products, they're kind on the bank balance, kind on the skin, and actually work!

Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer...

So, we all know the advantages of using a primer, but with higher end brands hogging the limelight with them, they're often difficult to justify. So when I saw this in Boots from one of my go-to drugstore brands, I threw it in my basket.

The consistency is much more of a cream/moisturiser in comparison to the other primers I have tried here and here which were more silicone based. The product applies smoothly and leaves a soft base for make up. It is really lightweight, similar to a lotion and once it's on, you really don't feel like you're wearing it. Unlike other primers, it claims to have 5 benefits, much like a BB cream minus the colour.

I've been using it for around a month now, and although it is nice to use and does help make up application, it doesn't seem to brighten or mattify my skin at all, nor does it prolong the wear of my make up too much. In my opinion, the 17 one is far more effective.

If you have good skin as it is, this would definitely be a good addition to your make up bag, but if you're oily or spot prone, due to the consistency of the product, I don't think this will be benefiting at all.

Have you tried this? What did you think?

You know that it's the Christmas Season when the Red Cups are out in Starbucks. Red Cups also mean Gingerbread syrup, which then means Gingerbread Hot Chocolates... Yuuuummmm, heaven in a cup :)

But due to this, I've gone a little Gingerbread crazy and picked up this gorgeous bath and shower gel from The Pink Cow at Boots

The Pink Cow is a lovely British company who produce yummy smelling bath products which are free from parabens and also do not test on animals. Happy Days! It also comes in a range of equally scrumptious scents.

The scent is just amazing and really addictive, so it's just as well that you get a massive 500ml for a tiny £2.

On a side note, I now have and use Instagram follow me (Lamourlauran) and post your favourite Instagram users, I love looking through my feeds and seeing all of the beautiful photographs, it amazes me.

Do you have any favourite Christmas scents?

Scentsational: Sex and the City Perfume at Wilkinsons...

"Wilkinson has an exclusive launch of two Sex and the City fragrances, with Givaudan, which capture New York City’s energy and unique sensibility. The new fragrances have been developed by three of Givaudan’s top perfumers who are behind Bobbi Brown, Hugo Boss and Tommy Hilfiger colognes. ‘Sex and the City’ perfume has a subtle touch of passion fruit, with the heart of the perfume being feminine and soft. ‘Sex and the City by Night’ is the equivalent of your LBD! This perfume offers a captivating, luxurious and powdery essence that has been developed by jasmine, sandalwood and tonka beans. The duo will be hitting Wilkinson’s shelves at the beginning of November."

When I was sent this fragrance by the lovely Lucy at Kavanagh Communications, I wasn't expecting much, for a mere £9 how nice could it be?!

Well, really nice actually! It has a lovely fruity, sweet scent that is light and feminine. The first thing I think of when I smell it is Beyoncé Heat Rush. I have received so many compliments when wearing this scent, and although it doesn't hang around long on the skin, it's a great scent to throw in your handbag and freshen up with throughout the day. In fact, I had to fish it out of the bottom of mine to take these photos.

The bottle is glass and has a nice weight to it, meaning it doesn't look too cheap or tacky. It's pretty in a simple way. The variation I have is the gold 'By Day' 60ml which is just £15... Absolutely bargainous! It also comes in 'By Night' which is more of an evening, sexy scent.

Do you think you'll be giving this a little sniff next time you're in Wilkos?

Much Love,
