What's on my iPhone?...

I saw this tag video on one of my recent YouTube catch-up sessions and thought it would transpire well into a blog post. I love seeing what apps people use on a day to day basis so here's what my iPhone 5 is loaded up with: ...

Event: #shhealthysmile at Everyman Cinema

At the beginning of the month, I was invited down to the Everyman Cinema in Leeds by the lovely team over at Simplyhealth to enjoy a good ol' giggle with my Sister...

YourTea Tiny Tea Teatox

So here we are 7 days into my Tiny Tea Teatox and I've really enjoyed it! The first thing I noticed is how much my skin has cleared up. I genuinely didn't think that this was a benefit of the tea, considering it is essentially a 'weight loss' system ...

Coral Ombre Nails

Not a perfect ombré, but these colours look so good together that I can forgive the fact that I don't have five perfectly gradiented coral tones in my nail polish collection ...

MAC Viva Glam: Nicki Minaj...

Ooo, look what arrived in the post yesterday! I was sent an early purchase code by MAC to buy the new Viva Glam by Nicki Minaj before its official release on 1st March 2012. I've already fallen in love with it and I think it's overtaken Costa Chic as my favourite and I've had it less than 24hours. It's such a gorgeous yellow-toned pink which looks coral against my skin tone in some lights. It's a satin finish and gives a lovely sheen to the lips, is really moisturising and has great staying power, not as amazing as the amplified formula, but better than creamsheens. I can see myself getting through the tube pretty quickly.
MAC Lipsticks retail for £13.50 and all proceeds from everything in the Viva Glam range (that's 100% of takings) go to the MAC Aids Fund helping men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS. It's great to see a company donate all and not just a small proportion of proceeds to such an amazing cause.

Will you be purchasing the new Viva Glam?

All Decked in Lace and Leather...

Shirt - Primark
Skirt - H&M
Bag - New Look
Nails - Barry M Shocking Pink
This was actually my outfit yesterday, but I couldn't find my camera cable! Nightmare. Anyway, today is a boring uni and gym day so wouldn't make for an interesting post.
I am obsessed with this skirt from H&M and have worn it a few times, I always feel making leather suitable for daytime a little difficult, but I put this with tights, a jacket and skull print scarf and it worked. I'm thinking of paring this shirt with my AA Disco Pants when they come too.
I picked up this bag yesterday and for £14.99 I think it's an absolute steal. It reminds me of the Aldo Cyphert's and I love its simplicity, makes it look a lot more expensive.
This is the first time i've ever worn my hair in a proper neat ballet bun, and I really like it. I spent yesterday doing a lot of uni work and my hair was out of my face and out of the way.

Batiste: Fruity & Cheeky Cherry...

If you read my blog a lot you will know that I'm never without a can of Batiste. It's one of those products that just make life a little easier (especially with long hair), I use mine to add oomph and a bit of texture to freshly washed hair and to freshen up hair that's a little worse for wear the morning after the night before. Batiste's newest release is this scrum my scented wonder and I've kindly been scent (see what I did there!?) sample to review for you all.
*PR Sample
"Indulge in the beauty of yesteryear with the new Batiste Cherry Dry Shampoo with an unmistakable fruity fragrance and cute design inspired by our latest love of vintage glamour. Batiste Cherry refreshes the parts other dry shampoos can’t reach, leaving your hair revived and fruity when you have far better things to do than wash your hair."

I love when a product actually looks pretty and this vintage inspired cherry print can is no exception, I wouldn't be ashamed to have this out in my bathroom. As always, the product is great, especially for light haired people, brunettes may suffer with the 'grey cast' that a lot of dry shampoos can give, banishes oil and adds a bit of volume at the roots. The scent, I wouldn't say was very cherry, just a fresh fruity smell with a slight hint of cherry. I used it this morning and came back in my room and got a lovely waft of the scent, definitely the best smelling Batiste in my opinion, perfect for summer and to have around this festival season.

You can see the full range of Batiste at and a 200ml can retails at a purse savvy price of £2.99 and are currently on 3 for 2 at Boots ;)

Hope you're all enjoying the Brit Awards!

Dress Dilemma...

Hiya everyone! Today I have a little dilemma for you...

I have a black tie (Casino night) charity event to go to on the 9th March in aid of The Children's Heart Fund and the Children's Heart Surgery Fund. Arranged by the mother of a close friend whom we lost to a heart condition to celebrate what would have been her 21st Birthday, the event has been planned to raise awareness of congenital heart defects and raise some money to help the above charities.

Obviously this is an event which is close to my own heart and whilst it will be in remembrance, I can't wait to go and meet up with so many friends that I've not seen since the starting University. The only problem, I have no idea what to wear!? It has to be formal, but I want to be able to wear everything again.

Here are a few idea's I've had but I need your help, suggestions in the comment box please :)
Outfit One: Rare, New Look, Office
Outfit Two: Miss Selfridge, ASOS, Miss Selfridge
Outfit Three: Rare, Topshop, Missguided

Dress - Miss Selfridge
Belt - Primark
Nails - Ciaté Kitten Heels

I'm loving the 'dippy hem' shape at the moment, having bought this dress a while ago I'm finally getting some use out of it. The military styling and gold buttons are enough to stop this dress looking boring and I love the little tie detailing.

So this week, I received all of my January exam results back and got two 2:1's and two 1st's! I am so proud of myself, I worked so hard but never expected one first let alone two! Only 3 more assignments (12,000 words altogether!) and one more exam left of Uni now eeek!

This week is going to be all about catching up on some uni work trying to get some research sorted now so my assignments won't be as scary, and making that all important 'payday wish-list' ... Number one being some AA Disco Pants. I have become obsessed with them and have seen myself taking mental notes on how everyone has been styling them. There's so many options that the £70 seems like an investment, well that's what I'll keep telling myself anyway ;)

What are your plans for the coming week? Hope you've all had a lovely weekend so far!

Scarf Print...

You can't help but notice these stunning prints on the high street at the minute. With the last ever D&G collection comprising solely of these fun prints you're bound to find at least one of these pieces infiltrating your wardrobe this spring/summer whether it be by a scarf, or some leggings, there's something out there for everyone.

Here are a few of my high street picks:

  1. River Island £20.00
  2. River Island £25.00
  3. New Look £16.99
  4. River Island £30.00
  5. Topshop £20.00
  6. River Island £13.00
  7. Missguided £23.99
  8. River Island £17.00
  9. ASOS Marketplace (Fashioncasuals) £9.99
  10. Missguided £14.99

A large proportion of these are from River Island, they just do trends and prints so well, getting the perfect balance between wearability and making a statement. The dresses and tunics are great stand out pieces and can be worn with plain leggings or if you're a bit more brave, a clashing print. I really love the leggings in Number 9, they will look fab with a plain jumper and a pair of wedges. If you're not brave enough to rock a full print, try a scarf to break up an outfit. They're a cheap and easy way to inject a trend into your wardrobe.

So It's Saturday: #1...

MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation in NW20
MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC15
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
MeMeMe Blush Me! in Coral
Blink+Go Mascara
Vaseline Rosy Lips

It's always strange having a Saturday free, I never know what to do with myself! So today I'm going to catch up on bit of uni work (bore!) and drag my sister out of her hungover state for a wander around town and to get my iPhone fixed (the middle button has stopped working, does anyone else have this problem??).
The rest of this week has been pretty chilled out, after being so nonstop last month, it's been nice having a week off work and not having to rush about everywhere. I even managed to get home, which is quite a rarity for me, to see my mum's new home and have a general catch up. I really need to start going home a lot more, but with it being my final year, I just don't have the time!
Speaking of Uni, I've started getting some of my results back from January exams/assignments and I've got a 1st and a 2:1 so I'm pretty proud of myself at the moment, all the stressing and hard work does pay off!
Finally, I'm planning on getting a tattoo, but I'm so scared. I want it on my ribcage and it's one of the most painful places to get it. It has the mother's approval so all I need to do is man up and bite the bullet... Harder than it sounds.

It's currently a chilly -8 degrees in Leeds and I really don't want to go outside, but at least there's no snow. If there's one thing I could do without, it' falling on my arse.

What are your Saturday plans?

My GlossyBox: January 2012 Edition...

I know you've already seen so many of these already, but having received mine a little later this month due to missing Mr.Postman twice I held off reading reviews, so here's mine! This months box is Pretty In Pink: The Valentine's Day Edition and contains "5 perfecting products to pamper and preen yourself!". I love the GlossyBox themes, and this Hot Pink number certainly doesn't disappoint, here's what I received:
  • Eyeko Skinny Liner in Emerald Green
  • Orly Nail Lacquer in Ruby
  • Weleda One Step Cleanser & Toner
  • FAB Gentle Body Wash
  • Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer in Dewy Finish
  • GlossyBox Rock (Yum!)
You've got to love a good nail polish and Glossy have made a nail polish addict very happy! I've never used an Orly Polish before and have been meaning to pick up Rage for such a long time but it's always sold out. The colour Ruby is a lovely deep bright red (more like the first photo on the nails) and the formulation is perfect. It is opaque and super glossy in just two coats. This is a 5.3ml mini polish which retails for £5.00. Full sized 18ml polishes retail for £8.99.
Murad have made an appearance in previous boxes and before GlossyBox was a brand I had not come across. This primer is oil-free, so great for all of us with problem skin and adds a 'radiant glow' to the skin. It claims to minimise the appearance of pores, balance oil, match perfectly to skin tones and help to disguise flaws. Sounds promising, but will it match up to these claims? I'll definitely be doing a follow up post on this one, given that the MAC foundation I'm currently using gives quite a matte finish, it will be interesting to see the difference it produces. This is a teeny 5ml sample and the full sized 30ml retails for £29.00.
First Aid Beauty (FAB) are another brand which has popped up in previous boxes, but I have never received a sample of their products in mine. I walk past their display when I'm in Boots and their quirky packaging always draws me in. This body was is meant to be great for sensitive skin and especially those who are prone to reactions. This is a generous 56g sample and the full sized 226g product retails for £10.00.
I enjoyed the Weleda body oil from a few boxes back and am looking forward to giving this a go. It's all natural and hopefully will do the world of good for my skin and give it that pick-me-up it needs for these wintery days. It claims to cleanse and tone in one step, clarify and perfect and remove make-up for normal and combination skin. The 10ml sample and it's two-in-one nature, is perfect for travel (or it would be if it wasn't glass). The full sized 100ml retails for £9.95 and is sold in most health food shops and organic stores.
I love the packaging of this eyeliner. The fact that the end is tapered will be great when the liner is on its last legs and will mean that none of the product is wasted and ensure maximum precision for application. I'm not one for coloured eyeliners however, and would have loved to sample the black or powder pink, but nonetheless I will give it a go! This is a full sized product and retails for £9.50, and is also exclusively stocked in Harvey Nichols. It's a little on the expensive side for a kohl liner in my opinion though.

This month's GlossyBox has a great mix of products for that boost post-Christmas and for that added bit of oomph for Valentine's Day. I have a night of cocktails and dancing planned with my girlies for my first single Valentine's in 4 years! Can't wait. What are your Valentine's plans ladies?

Lipcote Lipstick Sealer...

Clearly I have been kept out of the loop on this for some time. After seeing a lot of posts about this a few months back I decided to pick some up, but I've only just started using it. While it's not a wonder product, it does work and prolongs lipstick wear drastically, however not completely untouchup-proof. I when I last went out with a red lip and I did not reapply all night (probably should have, but I was a little worse for wear...That's what the end of exams will do to you!). It made my lipstick wear evenly too meaning it did not end up patchy.

To use, just apply your lipstick in the normal way, blot and apply a thin layer of this over the top. Smells and tastes a little odd, a bit like that stuff that stops you biting your nails... But if it works! I've been wearing a lot more lipstick too recently because of this. Usually I apply it and it's gone before i'm out of the door, but being able to add a bit of longevity has mad me a bit more lip-venturous, roll on summer and neon brights!

You can purchase Lipcote from Boots for £3.35.

My Mind is a Warrior...

Jumper - Primark
Skirt - Lipsy*
Rings - eBay

Yesterday's Uni outfit. This jumper is so difficult to photograph, its so boxy that it made me look like I had absolutely no shape. Oh well, it's such a cute jumper! I have a urge to cut the stitching keeping the cuffs rolled up though, does anyone else do this? It really annoys me as it never looks right with a coat over.

Much Love,
