What's on my iPhone?...

I saw this tag video on one of my recent YouTube catch-up sessions and thought it would transpire well into a blog post. I love seeing what apps people use on a day to day basis so here's what my iPhone 5 is loaded up with: ...

Event: #shhealthysmile at Everyman Cinema

At the beginning of the month, I was invited down to the Everyman Cinema in Leeds by the lovely team over at Simplyhealth to enjoy a good ol' giggle with my Sister...

YourTea Tiny Tea Teatox

So here we are 7 days into my Tiny Tea Teatox and I've really enjoyed it! The first thing I noticed is how much my skin has cleared up. I genuinely didn't think that this was a benefit of the tea, considering it is essentially a 'weight loss' system ...

Coral Ombre Nails

Not a perfect ombré, but these colours look so good together that I can forgive the fact that I don't have five perfectly gradiented coral tones in my nail polish collection ...

GHD Boho Chic...

Where would a girl be without her GHDs?! I bought these just after Christmas after breaking my previous Pink Edition pair (I had them for a good 4 years and they just gave up on me). I have used GHDs for as long as I've been straightening my hair, they are genuinely THE best brand of straighteners in my opinion. I can create so many styles with them because of their rounded barrel, from poker straight to beachy waves, quickly and with ease.

I don't often wear my hair straight, it's not in the best condition and so suits and holds curls and waves a whole lot better, but when I do, these straighteners leave it looking and feeling a lot smoother and sleeker.

The plates heat up quickly, beeping to let you know they've reached optimum temperature, and automatically shut off after 30 minutes, ideal if like me you forget to turn things off and avoiding running back home to check. For these reasons, I think the GHD stylers are worth every penny. They are more expensive than other brands, but the results are worth it.

What do you think of GHDs, are they your holy grail hair tool?

My GlossyBox: May 2012 Edition...

Happy 1st Birthday GlossyBox! This month's box was a special anniversary box celebrating their 12th box and 1st Birthday. Here's what I received in mine this month:
  • Noble Isle Summer Rising Bath & Shower Gel
  • Lolita Lempicka Fragrance
  • Neal's Yard Remedies Rehydrating Rose Daily Moisture
  • Eldora False Eyelashes in H122
  • Collection Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliner in Brown
Shower gels seem to be a standard product in sample boxes, not that I'm complaining, I've not had to buy one in quite a while! Noble Isle, a British brand who use locally sourced products, describe this scent as a fragrance evoking the beginnings of summer, with extracts of toning elderflower and antioxidant-charged gooseberry with clean notes of orange blossom, moss and cut grass. Personally I can't smell that, but it does smell lovely and Summer-eveningy which I really like. The bath & shower gels retail for £20 for 250ml of product and there's four scents to choose from.
Perfume samples... I have a love/hate relationship with them. I feel that fragrance is difficult to pick for a person and to be honest, while these are nice, they are really not me. They would be more suited to those who enjoy a more sophisticated scent. The Eau De Parfum is their original scent, with aniseed and vanilla notes, I do actually like this one, which is unusual as i HATE aniseed, but giving it a sniff now, it's really light, clean and floral. On the other hand, L'Eau en Blanc, it overpoweringly musky and very powdery, not up my street at all! The full sized bottles are stunning and would make a great gift priced at £49 for 50ml.
I walk past the Neal's Yard store in the Victoria Quarter twice a day and never think to pop in and have a look, but given how much I already like this product I will definitely be paying it a little visit. I have been suffering from dry patches as a result of a bad reaction to some Clearasil products I have been using and this, although for normal skin, has really calmed it! It's lightly scented and light on the skin so is easy to use under make up and doesn't irritate sensitive skin. This is a 45ml sample, the full-sized 100ml product retails for £22.50. I am thinking about trying out the Wild Rose Daily Moisture, have any of you tried it?
I love the look of these lashes, they remind me so much of the Eyelure Naturalites and I can't wait to give them a go. I have never heard of the Eldora brand before, but they have an amazing array of lashes, from natural to feather with prices starting at just £3.90 a set. With its vast range of lashes, from natural to extreme, there is a pair for everyone for any occasion.
Collection is a brand which hasn't graced my makeup collection much aside from the infamous Lasting Perfection Concealer. I have never been one for brown eyeliner, however given the hotter weather we've been experiencing and the inclination to go for a more natural makeup look, I'll be giving this a go. The consistency is creamy, the colour is rich and once set does't smudge too easily. This is a great option if you're wanting to try out gel liners as this is just £4.99!

I have received 11 of the 12 GlossyBoxes and I can say I've enjoyed each one. I love the concept and the fact I get to try so many different brands and types of product I'd never usually pick up.

What are your thoughts on sample boxes? Do you think they're worth it?

The Real Techniques Core Collection...

I know there's so many reviews of the Real Techniques brushes floating around beauty blog land, but I thought that I'd have my say. The Real Techniques brushes are all 100% cruelty free and made from Taklon bristles which are super soft allowing for flawless makeup application. The Real Techniques Core Collection consists of four brushes for creating the perfect base to your makeup, the Contour Brush, Pointed Foundation Brush, Detailer Brush and the Buffing Brush. I am so impressed with this line of brushes, but the one stand-out brush has to be the Buffing Brush.
This brush has revolutionised the way my foundation is applied and how it looks. I feel that this brush just makes my foundation, whatever it is, look so much better on the skin and so much more flawless than ones I've tried before. It feels so soft to use on the skin and the density of the bristles makes blending effortless. It's odd, but I've found myself spending longer on my foundation, especially blending to ensure that it looks as seamless as possible.
The other brushes are nice too, I use the contour brush for highlighter, it gives such a lovely effect as it buffs as you apply it, making the highlighter look really natural. I've been using the foundation brush to blend in concealer and the detailer brush to conceal around the lips if I'm wearing a bold lip colour, to enhance the colour and correct any mistakes.
All of the brushes wash well, dry quickly and do not lose their shape. For the £21.99 price tag, these brushes are amazing and rival high end ones. I'm definitely picking up the Starter Set next!

Do you own any Real Techniques brushes?

Label Love: Lavish Alice...

Black & Cream Striped Bodysuit, Mint Lace Collar Sheer Blouse, Cream Floral Skinny Jeans, Coral Chiffon Tail Hem SkirtMint Floral Chiffon Cut Out Sleeveless Summer Dress
If you've not heard of Lavish Alice yet, I suggest you get onto their website straight away! It's packed to the brim with pretty lace dresses, sheer collared shirts and gorgeous prints, a girly girls paradise.
I am in love with the mint green shirt. It's a beautiful take on the collar tip trend, with lace detailing instead of the metal, perfect for spring and summer. The dress ticks so many boxes for me too; nipped in at the waist, floral, cut-out and collared, would definitely look cute with a denim jacket and bare legs when the English summer eventually emerges. The striped body is something different for me, I'd see myself teaming it up with my AA Disco Pants or my H&M pleated leather skirt on a night out.
Printed denim is big this season, and my love for floral instantly attracted me to these jeans. The colours are muted, so a great way of working the trend if you're a little scared of patterns. I'd pair these with a simple white tee and let the trousers do all of the talking. Finally, the dipped hem skirt. I adore this shape and have found myself wearing it a lot. The colour is stunning too, coral is perfect for summer and instantly makes your skin look a little more tan.
As if the clothing wasn't gorgeous enough, all of these items are less than £40! Bargainous.

What are your favourite pieces?

L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick: Impulsive Fuchsia...

Super bright colour? Check. Amazing pigmentation? Check. Moisturising? Check. This might be one of the best lipstick formulations I have ever tried. L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick in Impulsive Fuchsia is a gorgeous blue toned, vivid pink which looks incredible on the lips. It's really comparable to my MAC Something New lipstick which I adore. I genuinely did not expect this to be long wearing given the formula, and it's not, but this colour seemed to stain my lips, ensuring I had a lovely wash of colour on all day. When on, they feel really balmy, like you've not got anything on, they are not sticky or drying, they are genuinely like nothing I have tried before. They are also fool proof to apply, just like a lip balm.
There has been a lot of blogging hype over the likes of the Revlon Lip Butters, but to be honest, when I swatched them in Boots, I really preferred this formula and the colour range, and I am eyeing up some of the other colours already, such as Dating Coral. The packaging, as always with L'Oreal screams higher end than it's £7.99 price tag.

All in all, I'm definitely going to pick up a few more Rouge Caresse colours as I really can't fault them. Have you tried them out yet? Or do you prefer the Lip Butters?

Boots French Nails in Short Peach...

Say hello to the most professional looking false nails I have ever used, the Boots French Nails in Short Peach! Honestly, I have never had so many compliments about my nails, I have been asked if they are acrylic and where I had them done and everyone has been shocked to find that they are £2.25 falsies! (They are now back to £4.50, I bought them when they were on offer.)
I have had them on for over a week now, with no breakages and minimal tip wear. I am so impressed with the quality of these nails I don't think I will ever go for a different brand. They come in pink and peach with variations in standard length, short and extra-short, so there's a set for everyone. If you're after a nail pick-me-up I would definitely recommend these, they've saved my nails after the exam-stress biting they've endured.

What do you think?

Much Love,

*For reference, I used the Nailene Ultra Quick Nail Glue with these nails.

The End of U.N.I...

I'm back! I've had a stressful month getting all of my assignments finished and revising for my last exam and blogging took a back seat. However, I officially finished Uni on Thursday and now I'm being thrown into the real world looking for jobs and work experience and deciding what to do with my life in general.
Arrgh! I get my classification on 26th June or thereabouts and graduate on the 26th July, literally my time at Uni has just flown by, but it has been the most amazing 3 years of my life. I've met some amazing people who will be in my life for the rest of my life, done some crazy things which I will remember forever and been on nights out that I will never remember!
So here's a few pics of what else I've been up to this month amidst all of the stress:
Me and my little sister, hot pink and leopard print, vintage shirt,  medical research,  the library convincing me to go out, Models Own Hedonist and Milani Jewel FX, chasing word counts, rave face, apple and caramel tart, getting ready, skittles vodka, finishing my last ever essay, MOUSTACHE, revision, aztec skirt, happy gingerbread man, what is this?!,last minute cramming session.
So I'm back to blogging! Yay :)

Much Love,
