What's on my iPhone?...

I saw this tag video on one of my recent YouTube catch-up sessions and thought it would transpire well into a blog post. I love seeing what apps people use on a day to day basis so here's what my iPhone 5 is loaded up with: ...

Event: #shhealthysmile at Everyman Cinema

At the beginning of the month, I was invited down to the Everyman Cinema in Leeds by the lovely team over at Simplyhealth to enjoy a good ol' giggle with my Sister...

YourTea Tiny Tea Teatox

So here we are 7 days into my Tiny Tea Teatox and I've really enjoyed it! The first thing I noticed is how much my skin has cleared up. I genuinely didn't think that this was a benefit of the tea, considering it is essentially a 'weight loss' system ...

Coral Ombre Nails

Not a perfect ombré, but these colours look so good together that I can forgive the fact that I don't have five perfectly gradiented coral tones in my nail polish collection ...

My eBay Shopping Basket: #1...

If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know I can't find my camera cable ANYWHERE and so all of my photos are stuck in limbo for the time being. Anyway, I love eBay, you can pick up so many bargains from just a simple T to designer inspired bags and shoes. Here's what I've popped in my Shopping Basket this week:
Studs and collars! Give me anything with studs on and I'm guaranteed to love it. My shirt collection has grown significantly this past month and I have everything from leather to lace, this studded one would look amazing paired with leather shorts! The metal collar necklace will add a little extra something to a plain T or jumper. I adore Jeffrey Campbell shoes and these replicas are just a fraction of the price. I've been eyeing up one of these Zara replica bags for some time now and at just £13.99 compared to Zara's £69.99, this one will be perfect for the upcoming summer months. The clutch bag and phone case I found on VIPXO through her amazing eBay posts.

What bargains have you picked up from eBay recently? I have a few items for sale here.

Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation: 15 Opal...

So, I've made no secret of having awful acne prone skin, as a result I'm always on the look out to find products which will help disguise the scarring and minimise the look of breakouts. After watching this video by Pixiwoo, I nipped down to my local boots and picked up the Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation.
This foundation is very flat, and very pale, leaving a sort of 'dead' look to the skin when first applied, after my bronzer and blush it's fine though! The coverage is obviously VERY full, as a full face foundation, I don't love it so I've started mixing it with my MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation, or using it purely as a concealer, for which it works really well. It will cover everything in its path, from scarring to tattoos (see this video) and leave your skin with that 'too-perfect-to-be-natural' kind of look.

The foundation does have SPF 20, which means it doesn't photograph well, leaving a white cast over the face if you're not careful with its application. Another downside is the smell, it's awful! I can't describe it but first thing in a morning it can leave me feeling a little queasy. I've been applying it with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush and the staying power is OK, about 6 hours before I'm looking a little oily and need powdering.

All in all, for £15.50 for 30ml, it's a great foundation for covering up blemishes and scarring. It leaves a full coverage look without feeling too heavy on the skin. The shade range is not great, my local Boots only stocked four shades! However, if you're after an everyday foundation to combat acne, give this a go, just bear in mind that it doesn't photograph well.

The Real Techniques Powder Brush...

I recently did a review on the Real Techniques Core Collection and picked up a couple more of their brushes as I was so impressed. The first is the Real Techniques Powder Brush, a huge fluffy brush which is perfect for applying powder foundation and setting powders. The brush is so thick and dense but really soft so is perfect for really buffing products into the skin and ensuring that the skin does not look overly powdery or cake afterwards. Again, like the other brushes, this one cleans really well and does not lose its shape when wet and for only £12.99 it is such a bargain compared to a MAC equivalent which can set you back over £30!

Do you have any brush recommendations? Keep checking back for more reviews of the Real Techniques Brush Line.

Skincare Purchases: Boots Botanics...

Willowbark, Marshmallow and Rosewater are three of the ingredients which feature in the new re-branded Boots Botanics range. Recently I've started taking a keen interest in skin care, I have acne-prone combination/oily skin and it's a nightmare to keep under control. My usual skincare routine consists of the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit range and this has really been working for me. As a result, I've been looking for little add-ins that will compliment my skin type and help to improve its overall look without make up.

The first product I picked up was the Mattifying Day Cream with SPF 15 to combat my oily skin. This contains willowbark which contains an element of salicylic acid which is great for the treatment of acne. This is a great lightweight day moisturiser, but it does not mattify for a long time. You can notice the effect as soon as it is put on, but after a couple of minutes, my face is no longer matte, which is really disappointing. I have noticed a reduction in break-outs since I started using it however, but I don't know whether this is purely down to this product or to the fact I have become pretty religious and thorough with my skincare.

The second product, which I really do like, is the Ultra Calming Night Cream with marshmallow, great for soothing sensitive skin. This is a lovely thick night cream which soaks into the skin. It does not feel heavy on the skin, and when I wake up the next morning my skin just looks more radiant. It smells reminiscent of the Soap and Glory Hand Food too which is a bonus.

Finally, for facial skincare, I picked up the Rosewater Toning Spritz. I use this after I've removed all of my makeup and cleansed my skin by spritzing it a couple of times over my face and removing it with a cotton pad. It removes all remaining traces of my makeup and makes my skin feel really fresh and my pores look reduced.
The last product I picked up was this Sugar Scrub. It contains grapeseed oil so is great for dry skin types such as mine. I picked this up on a whim as I had a build-up of fake tan that needed scrubbing off. This smells really nice and the sugar particles aren't too big and harsh on the skin. It left my skin feeling soft and looking really healthy, without a greasy residue that a lot of scrubs can leave behind. It definitely helped to rid my knees and elbows of the awkward orange patches! For just £5.99 for 450ml of product, this is great value for money too.

Have you tried anything from the Botanics range at Boots?

Label Love: Jeffrey Campbell...

Foxy Cork, Cleata, Foxy Neoprene, Lita, Martini Spike,  Lita Spike, Floral Damsel, Foxy Spike.
OH EM GEE! Jeffrey Campbell shoes make me go weak at the knees. I am in LOVE with the Foxy and Lita styles and have been lusting after a pair of each of them for the best part of a year now. I love how fashion forward the brand is and how it pushes the boundaries in design (and gravity!). The Spikes are a favourite of mine and the Foxy Spikes are a great way to make the trend wearable over Spring/Summer without looking too harsh and threatening, they'd be a great way to toughen up a girlie Summer dress. The Floral Foxy Corks will be perfect for the wedding season, injecting a bit of colour into a simple outfit.

Which shoe labels have you been lusting over? Do you like Jeffrey Campbell?

Hope you're all having a lovely long weekend, unless like me you work in retail and bank holidays don't exist to you -_-. Anyway, I've seen so many amazing Jubilee related manicures this week and thought I should give it a go too. I went for a simple accent nail using the Union Jack, as I didn't have the patience to do all my nails and am not ambidextrous enough to do both hands!
1. Firstly paint your nails the desired base coat, ensuring one it a dark navy blue. I used Revlon's Revlon Red and Barry M Navy.
2. Using a small, flat brush, paint a white cross on the blue base. Make sure this is thick enough to fit a red cross in the middle. I used Models Own Snow White.
3. Using the tip of the flat brush, create thin diagonal lines across the blue squares.
4. Using a thin, pointed brush take your red polish and paint a red cross in the centre of the white. You can also take this in the diagonals too, but I decided not to as I liked the way it looked like this.

And that's it! If you're more skilled than me you can do all nails, but if not, there are a number of Union Jack nails wraps on the high street right now.

What do you think? Are you sporting a Jubilee inspired manicure?

Glamour Magazine and Benefit Freebies...

Everyone loves a freebie and this month, Glamour haven't failed, giving away three of Benefits cult products in their July 2012, Women of the Year edition.

The POREfessional is a product which I have seen raved about on the blogosphere and have been looking forward to giving it a go. It minimises the appearance of pores & fine lines for a smoother, perfected complexion, and can be used before or after make up, which is an odd concept. Full-sized it costs £23.50, so the sample is a great way of trying it out without splashing out. I'm looking forward to seeing whether it does live up to its hype!

BADGal Lash is a volumising mascara with a huge brush, not dissimilar to the Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara. I have never been one to buy 'high-end' mascaras as the high street do so many amazing ones, so I'm looking forward to seeing whether high-end actually is any better.

"That Gal" is a radiance boosting primer which can be used before make up for a brighter complexion, or on top to refresh make up and to highlight. Again another product that I've heard great things about.

Have you picked up Glamour magazine this month? Which product are you looking forward to trying out?

Rimmel Volume Flash Scandal'Eyes Mascara...

The Scandal'Eyes Mascara is the newest addition to Rimmel's mascara range, containing an all new oversized brush, 50% larger than their others, and a formula loaded with collagen and keratin for plumper, healthier and stronger lashes.

I have to say, when I first used this mascara I hated it! The formula was so wet and the brush was so big that I just felt that it made an absolute mess of everything. As it has now dried out a little I have begun to love the look it gives my lashes. They look thicker and longer, whilst  still remaining separated and defined avoiding that awful clumpy, spider-lash look. Although I still think the brush is too big, as I always need a cotton bud on hand to clean up the mess, I almost feel like I have false lashes on when I'm wearing this mascara, so that can be forgiven!

It lasts all day without flaking or transferring onto my lids or under the eyes which is great as it means I don't need to touch up my make up throughout the day!

Have you tried this mascara? What did you think?
