What's on my iPhone?...

I saw this tag video on one of my recent YouTube catch-up sessions and thought it would transpire well into a blog post. I love seeing what apps people use on a day to day basis so here's what my iPhone 5 is loaded up with: ...

Event: #shhealthysmile at Everyman Cinema

At the beginning of the month, I was invited down to the Everyman Cinema in Leeds by the lovely team over at Simplyhealth to enjoy a good ol' giggle with my Sister...

YourTea Tiny Tea Teatox

So here we are 7 days into my Tiny Tea Teatox and I've really enjoyed it! The first thing I noticed is how much my skin has cleared up. I genuinely didn't think that this was a benefit of the tea, considering it is essentially a 'weight loss' system ...

Coral Ombre Nails

Not a perfect ombré, but these colours look so good together that I can forgive the fact that I don't have five perfectly gradiented coral tones in my nail polish collection ...

Masculine Footwear: DUO Boots...

When you see Victoria Beckham in flats you know there's something special about them! She was recently spotted wearing Manolo Blahnik Monk Shoes, a masculine black shoe with buckle detailing, a far cry from her usual sky high heels. There's something about these masculine shoes that I really love, the comfort factor is definitely one point, but their ability to instantly transform the vibe of an outfit is the biggest. Whereas heels give a girly touch, masculine shoes whether Monk, Loafer or Brogue styles add that grungey, toughened edge.
Fontaine - £110
I absolutely LOVE the Fontaine Monk shoes. They are so unique and different to anything i've seen on the high street. They'd be great to pair with some cigarette trousers or tights and a dress.

The deep purple wine colour of these Boots is perfect for Autumn and the style is a great twist on the heeled chelsea boots for those of you who prefer a flat boot for the winter. I live in slipper shoes at the moment and these Leopard Print ones are so cute! They're a great way to inject some print into your outfits. The style is really comfy and easy to wear with everything from jeans to disco pants.

DUO is a brand which focuses on high quality footwear with sophisticated styling, nodding to current trends rather than being a slave to them. All of their boots are uniquely made-to-measure, in up to 21 calf sizes and 3 widths, so there is definitely a boot for everyone, especially if you struggle finding them on the high street. They have some stunning riding boot styles which are great to pair with some jodhpurs and a cosy fur collared jacket for the coming winter months.

What do you think of Ladies boots by Duo Boots?
Much Love,

Trend Report: Berry Tones...

Autumn is one of my favourite seasons, not for the weather mind, but for the cozy knits and deep autumnal shades. This year, the berry trend cannot be escaped, from Oxblood to Plum, there’s a shade to suit everyone whether it be in your clothing or make up, I for one have embraced berry lips with both hands and don’t intend to let it go anytime soon. My favourite shade of the moment being the much lusted after, Kate Moss for Rimmel Matte Lasting Finish Lipstick in Shade 107, it’s the perfect deep raspberry shade that nicely skates the line between deep and gothic and is perfect for all skin tones.
In terms of clothing, Oxblood shades are definitely dominating the high street and accessories and beauty accents are definitely my favourite way of incorporating it into my Autumn wardrobe, from a simple scarf to statement boots there’s something for every budget.
I am in love with this Topshop Coat (I have the grey version). The fur collar is detachable and can be used as an accessory in itself. The marl effect of this colour makes it really wearable and the oversized nature adds that masculine edge to any look.

The black detailing on this ASOS Bag means that it will complement almost any outfit, especially chunky knits, and instantly updates it for Autumn. These gloves from River Island will make sure you stay cozy if you’re a little afraid of colour! At just £13 they’re a real bargain.

Matching your nails with your lips is a great way of updating your look and giving a nod to the Berry Trend. I love Essie’s Devils Advocate and Topshop’s Wicked for this!

How will you be updating your wardrobe this season?
Much Love,

The Christmas Gift Guide #1: What to Buy HER?!...

It seems like it was only yesterday I was recovering from my Christmas dinner but somehow the festive season has once again crept up on me and I haven't a clue what I'm getting anyone! Typical... But here's a few little ideas to get you all started on what to buy that woman in your life, whether it be Mum, Sister, Daughter or Girlfriend:

  1. Casetagram iPhone Case £25.05
  2. YSL Glossy Stain in Red £22.50
  3. Ciaté Mini Mani Month Advent Calendar £38
  4. Michael Kors Rose Gold Watch £199
  5. Chloe Green Shoes £165
  6. John Lewis Fair Isle Onesie £35
  7. Lipsy Hat £14 and Gloves £16
  8. Maison Martin Margiela for H&M Sweetie Clutch £34.99
The Casetagram cases have to be my favourite little gift idea as they are completely customisable and there's one for most smart phones and other gadgets. You simply log in with your Instagram or Facebook details and can arrange your photos however you like to create a completely unique case. I'd add a bunch of family photos for a gift for my Mum, as me and my sister no longer live at home, or if it's for your girlfriend how about your favourite photos of you both together or a complication of photos from a recent trip. The possibilities are literally endless.

Everyone seems to be going mad for onesies at the minute! Whilst I love a good comical one I much prefer the Fair Isle print ones which hint towards Christmas rather than screaming it at you. Onesies are a great alternative to PJ's and so many brands have a wide range of designs to choose from, Primark and for your lower price tag (£10 to £35) and OnePiece for the higher (£89 to £149).

A watch will always be a great gift that will last. Michael Kors ones have been my favourite for a while now and I love the rose gold tone, however  River IslandLipsy and ASOS all have some great dupes starting at just £22.

For a luxury stocking filler, The YSL Glossy Stains are great. A hybrid of lipstick, lip stain and lipgloss, this will be perfect regardless of her taste. The red colour is bold yet classic, meaning it will last the seasons and the gorgeous YSL packaging is definitely worth the price tag.

Although not to everyones taste the Sweetie Clutch is a great statement piece perfect for the party season. Designed by Maison Martin Margiela, this will definitely be a winner with those Fashion addicted women in your life.

Finally, the Mini Mani Month Advent Calendar by Ciaté is a beauty obsessives dream. Forget the chocolate, this advent calendar is packed with 17 of Ciaté's bestselling mini Paint Pots, four mini Caviar blends, and three exclusive Paint Pot glitter shades you’ll not find anywhere else. I want mine now please!

Soap & Glory Skin Care: The Fab Pore, Greatest Scrub of All and No Clogs Allowed...

I've been impressed with every one of the Soap & Glory products I've ever bought, but I've never tried out their skincare range. You know how it is with the Boots 3 for 2...

The Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser was the product I actually went in to get (well after I saw the Sanctuary one was sold out). It's basically a cleanser which removes makeup and cleanses all in one, similar to the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish but with a fruity scent opposed to a herbal one, which I much prefer. I love these kind of creamy cleansers as they don't feel harsh or like they're stripping my skin of its natural oils. This felt so nourishing, my skin was left clean and free of make up too, which is definitely a plus, who has time to remove their makeup before cleansing?! This was fantastic at removing my eye make up too without irritating my eyes. After a week of using this twice a day, I've noticed quite a difference in my skin, it's a lot smoother and softer. I definitely think these kind of cleansers are the way forward for me!

The Greatest Scrub of All Facial Exfoliator is probably my least favourite of the three products and the one I don't think I'd repurchase. It felt like it didn't really make a difference to my skin. It definitely does exfoliate my skin in a gentle way, but after using the Fab Pore, I don't think there's much else there left to exfoliate. The formula is creamy and contains little exfoliating spheres which burst when massaged into the skin.

The No Clogs Allowed Face Mask is literally the weirdest face mask I've ever used, including the REN Glycolactic one! It's a self-heating mask which tuns blue when applied. Aside from making me look like a Smurf, it actually has done wonders for my skin. This is marketed as a deep cleansing treatment for greasy and blackhead prone skin and I've noticed that my skin feels so much fresher when I've removed this, pores appear smaller and any blemishes reduced.

Overall, I'm really impressed with the S&G skincare range and really want to give some other products a go, especially the Facial Peel Mask. What do you think of the brand? Have you found some skincare saviours?

Much Love,

ImAStar Clothing and Gaz Geordie Shore's Project 722...

I'm sure if you're a fan of Geordie Shore you've seen the hype around Gaz and his new Project 722 menswear store opening on the 8th December in the Metro Centre, Newcastle. It boasts Gaz himself working there every Saturday, 8 out of 10 of the best clothing brands and a Fifa Zone. I can imagine every boy in the North can't wait for this opening!

A Bright Lip in this Weather?!: 17 Lasting Fix Lipstick in Hot Chilli

17 Lipstick in Hot Chilli £4.29
This lipstick is a classic case of 'see it, buy it' even though I have a million other similar shades... Oh well beauty addict for a reason!

17 isn't really a brand I get drawn to a lot and I've not tried a lot from them either. The formula of this lipstick is actually lovely, although I don't like it's shape (it doesn't have the point that most lipstick bullets have which make it easier to apply precisely) the colour is gorgeous. In person it's a really bright orange with a slightly red undertone which makes it really wearable. I tend to pair a bright lip with a neutral eye to keep the focus on the lips and keep the look daytime appropriate.

As for staying power, given the name of this line is 'Lasting Fix' I don't think it lasts that long, it smudges and wears away quite easily, but I think the colour pay off is worth the extra application or two. I tend to seal it with a layer of Lipcote to keep it in place and that works treat! For under £5 it's well worth a try if you're on a budget.

Much Love,

We Got Locked Away...

What I'm Wearing:
  • Shorts - Glamorous @ Republic
  • Shirt - Primark
  • Contrast Sleeve Jacket - Primark

Make Up:
  • Base - Rimmmel Match Perfection Ivory and Stay Matte Powder
  • Concealer - MAC Studio Finish NC 15
  • Bronzer - Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer
  • Blush - Vivo Baked Blush
  • Eyes - Shade 2 MUA Heaven and Earth Palette, Urban Decay Half Baked and Smog, Buck through the brows, L'Oreal Super Liner and Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara
I'm not really up to much today aside from working on a couple of blog posts and making the most of this little peak of Yorkshire sunshine.

I absolutely adore the collar on this Primark shirt, it's the kind of detailing that gives this £12 shirt and expensive edge. It's a great shirt to pop under a jumper to add a pretty detail. The jacket was a mere £15 and is a much cheaper alternative to the Zara and Topshop offerings. I knew this wouldn't be the sort of jacket I'd wear all of the time, so getting a cheaper version was a no brainer. The shorts are probably the most uncomfortable ones i've ever worn (riding up in placing they really shouldn't be!) but I love the edgy look they give.

What are you all up today?

REN Skin Care: Kit for Blemish Prone Skin...

REN ClearCalm 3 Kit for Blemish Prone Skin - £15 for 70ml
Forever on the quest for perfect skin, I picked up this little trial of the REN Clearcalm 3 range which contains samples of the Clarifying Clay Cleanser, Total Clarity Day Fluid, Replenishing Night Serum and the Clarity Restoring Mask and I think I may have started a slight love affair.

The Clearcalm 3 range is tailored for blemish prone skin and targets the 3 key causes of breakouts; Sebum, dead skin cells and bacteria (yum!).

The Cleanser contains Salicilin which is a great ingredient for acne as it has antibacterial and exfoliating properties. The Mask contains Sulphur which reduces inflammation and the Ligonberry in the Night Serum helps to counteract hyper pigmentation, sounds all very technical but the brand REN uses only 100% plant and mineral derived actives. I love this about this range. Products such as ProActiv work, but contain so many things it forces you to question whether it is actually doing your skin any real good?!

The system works really well together as well as on their own as an addition to your current routine if you have a particular skin complaint. This is why I think I prefer this to ProActiv.I felt like each component part actually did something to my skin and helped it in some way. The cleanser left my skin feeling refreshingly clean and removed all traces of make up, whilst soothing and calming redness. The mask stung on affected areas, which made it feel like it was really working and any active breakouts where dramatically reduced the next day.

After using up all of the samples, my breakouts have reduced significantly, the worst ones are now confined mainly to my chin, but far less than before I was using it and around the same level ProActiv left my skin.

Overall I'm really impressed with REN, their service is amazing and the results speak for themselves. I'm definitely picking up the full-sized cleanser!

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation: 115 Ivory...

The Maybelline Fit Me range has finally landed on UK shores! I picked up the foundation in the shade 115 Ivory recently and have been giving it a good test drive for you all.

The Maybelline Fit Me Foundation is a gel formula without oils, waxes or fillers to give a natural and flawless coverage which lets your natural skin tone to shine through. Firstly this has to be the lightest feeling foundation I've ever tried. It feels like I have no base on at all and you can't feel it on the skin either, my skin feels soft and smooth and not caked with make up, which is a refreshing change from MAC Studio Sculpt.

The coverage is very buildable, one light application evens out skin tone with ease and buffing in a little extra over problem areas leaves a flawless yet natural and dewy finish to the skin. Since buying this foundation I've found myself wearing less make up and going for a more natural look as I really like the way my skin looks with this product. It is very similar to the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation (review soon) for those of you who have tried that out, however I think I might just prefer the Rimmel one!

As for staying power, it sticks around for about 6 hours using my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, it would definitely last a lot longer on those of you with a more normal skin type. For £7.99 this really is a great budget foundation, and the glass packaging makes it feel a lot more luxe than it is.

Have you tried anything from the Fit Me line? I really want to pick up the concealer and setting powder too.

Much Love,

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask..

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask - £30 for 50ml
This little beauty has taken the beauty world by storm; containing the 'it' ingredient glycolactic acid, this is a chemical exfoliant and claims to renew the complexion, reduce the appearance of fine lines, improve skin tone and combat blemishes (to name just a few).

The thought of using acid on my face did make me a little wary, but glycolactic acid is derived from fruit and works to loosen dead skin cells which make the complexion look dull and lack lustre. The REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask is a 'peel mask' which chemically exfoliates the skin to reveal a smoother and brighter complexion. Products like this are great for oily skins such as mine as it reduces the amount of oil on the skin, reducing the likelihood of  breakouts from blocked pores.

As far as face masks go, this is certainly unusual, from its marmalade texture and citrus scent to the tingly felling it leaves on the skin. After leaving this on my face for the advised 10 minutes and washing it off, my skin felt amazing and looked really healthy. All other products I used afterwards just sunk straight into my skin and seemed far more effective than usual. Obviously this is only a small amount, and there has been no drastic improvement in my scarring, but I have seen fading on the smaller areas and breakouts seem to have reduced after using it once or twice a week for a month or so.

Overall, I really want to purchase the full sized version, as with any skincare regime, it takes time to see its full benefits.

Have you tried anything by REN?

Much Love,
