What's on my iPhone?...

I saw this tag video on one of my recent YouTube catch-up sessions and thought it would transpire well into a blog post. I love seeing what apps people use on a day to day basis so here's what my iPhone 5 is loaded up with: ...

Event: #shhealthysmile at Everyman Cinema

At the beginning of the month, I was invited down to the Everyman Cinema in Leeds by the lovely team over at Simplyhealth to enjoy a good ol' giggle with my Sister...

YourTea Tiny Tea Teatox

So here we are 7 days into my Tiny Tea Teatox and I've really enjoyed it! The first thing I noticed is how much my skin has cleared up. I genuinely didn't think that this was a benefit of the tea, considering it is essentially a 'weight loss' system ...

Coral Ombre Nails

Not a perfect ombré, but these colours look so good together that I can forgive the fact that I don't have five perfectly gradiented coral tones in my nail polish collection ...

The £7 Wonder Palette: Rimmel Glam'Eyes HD Palette in Brixton Brown...

I'm not much of an eyeshadow wearer. Between getting up for work at 5am and a dwindling social life due to night shifts, I really don't have the time nor the patience for it. However, since this little beauty found its way into my collection I've been blending it onto my lids more often then I care to remember, making it the most used palette I own.
Rimmel Glam'Eyes HD in Brixton Brown - £6.99
This is literally the most perfect palette for this time of year, and the colours can create anything from a simple day look to a gorgeous on trend berry smokey eye. My favourite shade has to be the red tones bronze in the centre, reminiscent of MAC's Cranberry, it instantly adds something different to the traditional neutral brown smokey eye. I received so many compliments at work when I was wearing it. The highlight shade is ultra versatile too and it's even found its way onto my cheekbones recently.
Also wearing L'Oreal Super Liner Brow Artist and  Sleek Blush in Rose Gold.
Here, I am wearing the light highlighting shade in the inner corners, the centre shade all over the lid and the darkest colour in the palette in the outer corner and under the lash line. I can definitely see myself wearing this look on Christmas Eve with my cheesy Jumper. With the hype around High End palettes like the Naked 3 and Marc Jacobs offerings you could be excused for forgetting about hidden High Street gems.

Rimmel really has some fantastic and affordable products out at the minute and I can pick no fault with everything I have tried from the brand. Have you settled on your Christmas Party look yet? Will you be going for High Street or High End?

Much Love,
Lauran

Victoria's Secret: Sexy Little Things Noir EDP...

With notes of "sparkling nectarine, sultry amber and exotic cattelaya orchid" Sexy Little Things Noir is not my typical scent, but I couldn't resist it's sultry scent and the bottle now sits beautifully on my fragrance shelf.
Victoria's Secret Sexy Little Things Noir 50ml - £44*
When you first spray the fragrance, the fruity note of nectarine is definitely the first thing that hits you but as it settles down the muskier and woodier facets come out, making it a stunning evening scent. Working at Victoria's Secret means I do get to try all of their fragrances every time I detour through the Beauty section, which makes this one all the more special as I actually bought it. I will however admit that the packaging did sway me to make the purchase, it's just so gorgeous and who can resist an atomiser?!

The wear time of this scent is about 4 hours, but it's such a lovely scent that I don't mind re-spritzing every now and then. If you're stuck for gift ideas, I'd definitely go and check out your nearest Victoria's Secret store as the Beauty Department has some amazing scent gift sets at the moment.

What's your favourite Victoria's Secret Beauty product?

Much Love,

House of Holland Nailed By Elegant Touch: Polka-Dot It...

Since I've been working nights and long hours (the whole reason I managed to have an accidental 2 month hiatus from blogging), I've real neglected my nails and they've not seen a nail file, let alone a slick of polish for a fair while. I picked up these Henry Holland press on nails and hands down they resulted in the most talked about manicure ever!
The pack comes with a mixture of painted and 3D polka-dot designs making it incredibly easy to create a design which suits your style. They lasted my 5 days of night shifts, floor moves and a stocktake which I must say is pretty impressive going! They'd definitely hang about a lot longer if you had a less hands on job.

I can't argue with the quality of these nails, they're well worth the £8.99 price tag wholly for the amount of compliments I received (and the odd hand grab and nail stroking from the girls at work). The rest of the range is stunning as well, a great mixture of colours and textures, exactly what you'd expect from Mr. Holland.

If you're after a stand out manicure for a special occasion I definitely recommend perusing the isles of  Boots to find these beauties, I can't wait to see the festive offerings!

Much Love,
Lauran

Superfacialist by Una Brennan: Vitamin C+ Brighten Skin Renew Cleansing Oil...

Cleansing oils are by far my favourite way of taking off my makeup and cleansing my face. They're incredibly effective and leave my skin feeling soft and clean without feeling stripped. I picked up this Una Brennan offering after my skin went a little awry from running out of my DHC Deep Cleansing Oil.
Superfacialist By Una Brennan available at Boots
I have a slight love/hate relationship with this product. Lets start with the hate... The packaging... a viscose oil product in a bottle with the widest neck ever and no pump?! Who's brain wave resulted in that. I dug out a pump from a old hair product to use with it after spilling a large amount down the sink. Secondly, it has a really synthetic orange scent to it. It reminds me of a Body Shop shower gel.

But putting those aside, the Superfacialist Cleansing Oil is actually really nice. It is not as heavy duty as the DHC one, it even advises on the packaging that it is a pre-cleanse product and should be followed up with a cleanser. It removes makeup well and leaves my skin looking radiant but not shiny which can always be a danger using oils on oily skin. My skin feels so soft after i've cleansed with this oil, and when used in conjunction with the other products in the range, my skin is hydrated and dare I say, radiant?

Like I say in all of my skincare posts, I have acne prone skin and I just can't stress enough how much oils have improved my skin. I have consciously made more of an effort to stay away from products aimed at acne prone skin (La Roche-Posay aside) as they strip the skin of natural oils and ultimately make the whole situation worse.

Have you tried anything from the Una Brennan range?

Much Love,
Lauran

Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturiser: Cocoa Radiant...

These colder days and darker evenings tend to put me in hibernation mode and I turn every night into a pamper night, take that extra few minutes in the shower to keep warm in the steam and slather anything on my skin to combat the dryness that hits around this time of year.
The Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturiser is the perfect addition to my its-too-cold-to-spend-any-longer-naked body care regime. Whilst in the shower I exfoliate using my Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub, wash with whichever shower gel seems to be hanging around and then rub over Lush's King of Skin Body Butter Bar, rinse off and prepare to face the freezing cold bathroom tiles. Once dried off I spray over the Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturiser all over and quickly rub it in and jump into my PJ's still warm from the Shower.

This product, whilst it seems a bit gimmicky, actually works wonders. The bottle sprays a fine mist which is absorbed really quickly into the skin and leaves no greasy or sticky residue but still leaves my skin really soft and hydrated. The aerosol form means its really easy to get to those awkward parts of your body that you can't easily reach with traditional moisturisers, middle of my back being the main culprit. The cocoa scent is really nice too, definitely the best of the bunch for the current season.

Have you tried out this range yet?

Much Love,
Lauran

Favourite Fall Polishes: 2013...

 Lychee, London, Mushroom, Dusky Mauve
Purple Ash, Red Black, Wait Until Dark
So the sun has stopped shining, the rain is falling and the jumpers are out... Bye bye Summer and Hello Autumn! I am actually looking forward to Autumn this year, I think it's because we've actually had a decent Summer here in the UK and now I'm putting away the playsuits and digging out the layers with less reluctance than usual.

This season I'm all about the coffee and deep berry tones which will look good with any outfit. The gorgeous Nails Inc London triggered this obsession and now Barry M Mushroom, Lychee and Dusky Mauve are all in queue. Amping up the berry tones, we have Barry M (do you see a theme here?!) Red Black and Ciaté Wait Until Dark. I love a dark lip in the Autumn too and both of these pair nicely with my all time favourite Kate Moss Rimmel Lipstick in 107. I really try and steer away from glitter at this time of year as it just screams festive season... as if seeing Christmas jumpers in Primark wasn't enough in September.

What are your favourite tones this season? Leave me some recommendations in the comment box, my nail polish collection seems to have rapidly depleted since moving in with my Sister...

Victoria's Secret Limited Edition Fall Fantasies: Enchanted Nights...

Victoria's Secret Fall Fantasies in Enchanted Nights - £11 (*)
Words cannot describe just how much I am in love with this Victoria's Secret Fantasy Fragrance Mist. Enchanted Nights is a warm coconut flower and sandalwood scent, a perfect combination of sweet and woody, perfect for Autumn but not too heavy that it can't be worn throughout the day.

The Victoria's Secret Fantasies scents hang around for 2-3 hours and are not at all over powering, meaning they can be layered over a perfume and topped up when out and about. My boyfriend absolutely loves this scent and, although I never thought I was much of a coconut lover (or woody scents for that matter) this has completely won me over and I find myself spritzing it on every time I go in my bag.

Fantasies retail at £11 each and are always on offer for 5 for £30. The Fall Fragrances are Limited Edition so once they're gone, they're gone! I am definitely going to pick up another one of these along with some of my other favourite scents of the moment; Coconut Passion (I am definitely a convert!), Pure Seduction and Love Spell. There are only 5 Victoria's Secret stores in the UK at the moment, so if you're near one I definitely recommend popping in for a sniffing session.

Look out everyone who's on my Christmas List, Victoria's Secret will be landing under your trees!

Much Love,
Lauran

Barry M Sequin Effects: White...

I have never come across a Barry M nail polish that I didn't love, their colours and formulas have always been on point and fashion forward and their new textures were really exciting. But unfortunately their newest launch 'Sequin Effects' left me feeling underwhelmed. While the polish looks amazing on, its grainy texture and inability to stay put without chipping means that this offering is going straight to the back of my stash.
The base colour is not opaque which means it needs to be layered either on its own or with another polish which doesn't help its longevity and the flecks of sequin glitter whilst beautiful, are mixed with a clear gritty sequin which makes the polish uneven and thick. Working in visual merchandising and constantly picking at vinyls and changing displays means that this sort of formula is only good for one time use and not daily wear. It's such a shame, I had such high hopes for this polish!

Have you encountered any disappointing products recently?

Caroline Hirons Inspired Skincare Wishlist: Evening...

I've been really getting into the science behind skincare recently and Caroline Hirons' blog BeautyMouth is a fountain of knowledge on the subject, and using her blog I've come up with a wishlist of gorgeous skincare for my blemish prone skin. You can check out my 'Morning Routine' here.

The purpose of an 'Evening Routine' is to - as Caroline says - help your skin help itself, by removing all makeup and nasties the day throws at you and giving it all the nutrients it needs.

Caroline Hirons Evening Skincare for Acne Prone Skin
Cleanse:
First Cleanse - Bioderma to get rid of the top layer of makeup and grime and make it easier for the next step.

Second Cleanse - DHC Deep Cleansing Oil makes cleansing my skin such an easy task and it dissolves everything in its path whilst nourishing my skin. Doing this ensures that I actually wash my face rather than giving it the cotton pad treatment.

Tone:
Using the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask will ensure that my skin is prepped and all dead skin cells are sloughed away. Acid is good for your skin! This is a mask formula so a bit more pampering for the night time. I'd stay away from a hydrating toner on a night time as I think the rest of the products I've picked have hydration covered.

Eye Cream:
I absolutely love the GinZing Eye Cream and I don't think that it is just for the daytime at all. It's lovely and light but moisturising enough that you see a difference.

Treatments:
The Esteé Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum is something that has been on my wishlist for such a long time. It has recently been reformulated too which is most definitely a sign that I should pick it up soon. I'd use this to hydrate my skin and help with scarring and blemishes. I've heard great things about the Una Brennan range from boots though and the Superfacialist Miracle Makeover Facial Oil seems like a great (and cheaper) alternative. I'd definitely pop on some Origins Super Spot Remover on any active blemishes I have as this seems to shrink the blemish overnight without drying out my skin too much.

Moisturise:
Hydraluron is one of those cult beauty product that is raved about a lot in the Beauty Community and I really want to give it a go. It contains hyaluronic acid which can hold a ridiclous amount of moisture and lock it into the skin. Using this before a moisturiser makes it more effective. I would also pick up the Origins Drink Up Intensive to add some much needed hydration to my skin.

What's your night time routine like? Do you have any recommendations for my acne prone skin?

Much Love,

Lauran

What's on my iPhone?...

I saw this tag video on one of my recent YouTube catch-up sessions and thought it would transpire well into a blog post. I love seeing what apps people use on a day to day basis so here's what my iPhone 5 is loaded up with:

Marc Jacobs Katie Bunny iPhone 5 CaseiPhone 5 Lock Screen

My case is the Marc Jacobs Katie Bunny it's made of silicone which makes it really durable. My lock screen is currently a photo of my boyfriend walking through some fields from a recent trip to a local farm. I love photos like this!

iPhone 5 Apps for Bloggers

I am so anal with the layout of my phone, I like it to be in a particular order and HATE using those categories. My background is a bunch of flowers my boyfriend sent me for our anniversary whilst he was away in Tomorrowland.

The top row of apps contains my daily necessities, the calendar (which I don't really use, it's just there for the date and to count down how many days it is until payday), my contacts, clock for the alarm and photos, which I use for my job as well as snapping random occurrences  My second, third and fourth rows are all pretty much social network based and I check these obsessively... I think I may have a problem. I keep a bookmark link to my blog on here too as I can quickly reply to comments and double check what has gone live from it.

iPhone 5 Facebook Pages App L'Amour Lauran

I use pages to update and run my Facebook page for my Blog...

...and Bloglovin' to keep up to date with the Blogs that I follow. This is far better than the Blogger app and makes reading blogposts on the iPhone so much more enjoyable. I wish it made it easier to post comments though, I always forget to!

iPhone 5 Reminders App #BBloggers

The only reminder set on my phone is for the #BBloggers chat on a Sunday evening. I've really got into taking part in this chat in recent weeks, all of the bloggers who take part are amazing, have fantastic advice and of course are huge enablers.

iPhone 5 Apps for Bloggers
iPhone 5 Photography Apps for Bloggers

My second page has all of the apps I use less frequently. The "Near Me" app is fantastic if you're in an unfamiliar city and want to find something, the app connects with Google Maps to direct you to where you need to go. I have the Blogger app on there just in case I need to make some on-the-go changes to my posts and WhatsApp to keep in contact and send photos to friends who don't have iPhones or are in another country. I use notes quite regularly when an idea comes to my head and I don't have a notebook to hand, it is quite basic, but it does the job.

My favourite section has to be my photography category (yes, it does annoy me that they are in a category) which contains Nostalgio which I use to create collages, A Beautiful Mess and Over which I use to edit and Mirrorgram and Visage Lab to add effects.

The only apps that are really missing are organisational/planning type apps. Do you have any recommendations?

Much Love,
Lauran

Caroline Hirons Inspired Skincare Wishlist: Morning...

I've been really getting into the science behind skincare recently and Caroline Hirons' blog BeautyMouth is a fountain of knowledge on the subject, and using her blog I've come up with a wishlist of gorgeous skincare for my blemish prone skin.

The purpose of 'Morning Routine' is to prep your skin for the day ahead and with that in mind, here are my wishlist picks for my ideal morning routine:

Caroline Hirons Morning Skincare for Acne Prone Skin
Cleanse:
I'd use my favourite cleanser the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil as it gets rid of grime without stripping my skin and leaves it nourished. Blemish prone skin should always stay away from foaming cleansers as this strips back the natural oils. This is something I wish I had learned sooner as my skin instantly looked and felt better with the change.

Tone:
Acid - I really want to get my mitts on the Pixi Glow Tonic, but this is so hard to come by considering I don't live in London. I think the Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Toner is a great daytime alternative. I've always heard great things about the Clarins skincare ranges. Acid is great for acne prone skin as it unblocks pores and gets rid of dead skin cells.

Hydration - Caudalie Beauty Elixir and the harder-to-come-by La-Roche Posay Serozinc wake up and hydrate the skin.

Eye Cream:
I'm going to stick to a tried and tested one here and say the GinZing Eye Cream from Origins. It has a pearlescent light reflecting property which disguises under eye bags like no other.

Treatments:
At this point I'll throw on my all-time-favourite skincare saviour that is the La-Roche Posay Effaclar Duo to combat my blemishes.

Moisturise:
Another Origins product here, the GinZing Moisturiser aims to brighten the complexion and as it is not too heavy, it won't interfere with makeup application.

Do you have any steps you like to include in your morning routine? Check back on Tuesday for my wishlist for the perfect evening routine.

Much Love,

Lauran

Mac Creme Cup and Rimmel Be Famous Vinyl Gloss: A Match Made in Heaven...

Rimmel Vinyl Gloss and MAC Creme Cup Cremesheen Lipstick
Rimmel Vinyl Gloss and MAC Creme Cup Cremesheen Lipstick Swatches
Top: MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Creme Cup
Bottom: Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in Be Famous
MAC Creme Cup
MAC Creme Cup

Whilst rummaging through my lipstick collection I stumbled upon my first ever MAC purchase, Creme Cup, a soft dusky pink colour which is perfect for everyday wear. The colour doesn't seem to sit right on my skin tone which is why it hasn't seem much love of late. My love of a peachy pink lip made me dig it out of my collection and pair it up with Rimmel's Vinyl Gloss in Be Famous. The outcome was to die for and this combination has been gracing my lips on a daily basis. The formulation of the Vinyl Gloss means the overall combination is lightweight, non sticky and hangs around long enough to knock back a few drinks before it needs a top up.

L'Oréal Super Liner Brow Artist...

When I was sent a collection of goodies from L'Oréal recently I let out a little scream. I will be doing a post specifically for the rest of the products, but I couldn't wait to show you all my favourite product from the bunch, the Super Liner Brow Artist.

L'Oréal Super Liner Brow Artist in 03 Brunette - £5.49 (*)
This double ended pencil is literally best product to grace my brows and is all that I have been using to add shape, definition and control to them recently. The product is really unique in that it is double ended with a wax to set the pencil at the other end. If you've ever experienced smudged brows I'd definitely recommend you check this product out.

The results that the Super Liner Brow Artist give are bold but natural. The colour I received was Brunette and although a little dark and red toned it matches pretty well to my natural brow colour. I do love a good old bold brow (balances out my huge forehead) and with this pencil you can create hair-like strokes, soften with the groomer and keep it all in place with the Wax pencil.

What do you think of the results, will you be giving the L'Oréal Super Liner Brow Artist a go?

Much Love,

Introducing BeautyDept.com and Lily Lolo...

A few weeks a go I was sent some lovely products to try by BeautyDept.com an online UK beauty department store showcasing many of our favourite brands such as St.Tropez, Jessica and Elemis alongside some new launches. Lily Lolo is one of the original founders of all natural mineral makeup in the UK and has recently expanded due to it's ever growing customer base. I was kindly sent some gorgeous products to review.
Lily Lolo Flawless Matte Finishing Powder
Lily Lolo Flawless Matte Finishing Powder (*) - £12.49
The standout product in this bunch has to be the Flawless Matte Finishing Powder which seriously beats my Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in terms of oil control and base longevity. My make up still looks perfect at the end of a 10 hour day working and a walk home in the summer sunshine! The powder is incredibly finely milled and glides onto the skin, without clinging to dry patches. I've been using my Real Techniques Contour Brush to lightly dust this product all over my face, concentrating on my nose, cheeks and forehead where my natural oils usually shine through. The result is matte and flawless without the cakey look some powders can give.
Lily Lolo Mineral Blush in Surfer Girl (*) - £7.29
I've also fallen in love with the gorgeous mineral blush in
Surfer Girl, it is the most beautiful pink on the cheeks which pairs perfectly with bronzer. This is so pigmented that you only need the tiniest amount for a natural pop of colour to the cheeks.
Lily Lolo Star Dust Mineral Bronzer (*) - £12.49
The highlighting product Star Dust was a little bit of a let down however. The product lies more on the glittery side of proceedings and doesn't really give that glow you want from a highlighting product. This would far better suit sun kissed skin to add a post holiday glow.

The packaging is perfect for mineral make up; with lockable sifters and secure lids and outer casing there is no way you're going to be wasting any product. Just carefully tap some product into the lid, swirl in your brush and gently buff the product onto your skin.

I am so impressed with the Lily Lolo products I have that I can't wait to try more!

"That's Why Her Hair's So Big... It's Full of Secrets": Sleep-In Rollers Mega Bounce

Sleep In Rollers Review
Sleep-In Rollers Mega Bounce Gift Set (*) - £35.00

A few weeks ago I was kindly sent the Mega Bounce Gift Set by Sleep-In Rollers to try out and it's safe to say I have found my hair saviour!

Sleep In Rollers Review
Sleep In Rollers Review

Sleep-In Rollers are a soft velcro roller with a foam middle, making them far easier to sleep in than your conventional rollers. The Mega Bounce gift set consists of a set of Mega Bounce Rollers, which are larger than the original Sleep-In Rollers and are designed to give lift and bounce to the roots. It also consists of a pack of the original Sleep-In Rollers, hair grips and a blow-dry hood (looks hilarious but gives amazing results!).

The Sleep-In Rollers are so easy to use, the fact that they are pliable somehow makes them easier to put in and they genuinely do stay put. I found that I only needed to use the grips on a few of the Mega Bounce Rollers to keep them in place, the rest gripped really well in the hair. I placed the Mega Bounce Rollers to the top sections of my hair and the crown, and the Sleep-In Rollers throughout the rest of my hair, I only needed about 12 to fill the whole of my head, because the Mega Bounce ones are so large. Dampening my hair made it so much easier to put the rollers in.

To sleep on, they aren't entirely comfortable but you can get a good nights sleep wearing them. I just found myself sleeping on my stomach, but for the results they give, I'd sleep with my head hanging off the bed if I had to!

Sleep-In Rollers Results
Sleep-In Rollers ResultsSleep-In Rollers Results

Let's just address the fact that I used no product and absolutely no heat to test just how effective the Sleep-In Rollers are on their own, and this was the result! I haven't seen my hair look this good since... well, ever... My hair felt light and bouncy and the volume and curl actually stuck around for two whole days and a trip on the Megabus (a mean feat for any hair product). I can see myself digging these out on a weekly basis as I received so many compliments on my hair.

I can't recommend Sleep-In Rollers enough to you all, you can find them on sleepinrollers.com, Boots and Feel Unique and there's literally a set for everyone. If you've used Sleep-In Rollers leave me a comment below and let me know if you'll be buying some if not.

Much Love,
