What's on my iPhone?...

I saw this tag video on one of my recent YouTube catch-up sessions and thought it would transpire well into a blog post. I love seeing what apps people use on a day to day basis so here's what my iPhone 5 is loaded up with: ...

Event: #shhealthysmile at Everyman Cinema

At the beginning of the month, I was invited down to the Everyman Cinema in Leeds by the lovely team over at Simplyhealth to enjoy a good ol' giggle with my Sister...

YourTea Tiny Tea Teatox

So here we are 7 days into my Tiny Tea Teatox and I've really enjoyed it! The first thing I noticed is how much my skin has cleared up. I genuinely didn't think that this was a benefit of the tea, considering it is essentially a 'weight loss' system ...

Coral Ombre Nails

Not a perfect ombré, but these colours look so good together that I can forgive the fact that I don't have five perfectly gradiented coral tones in my nail polish collection ...

Restaurant Review: Primo's Leeds...

Primo's has to be my absolute favourite place for Lunch in Leeds. The small little relaxed restaurant in the Corn Exchange offers a number of Hot Dog combinations, using everything from Lincolnshire to Chorizo sausages, alongside Bagels, Nachos, Salads and Fries.
The Boston and The Matador Hot Dogs.
Between us, me and the boy have devoured pretty much the whole Hot Dog menu, my favourites being the Big Easy and the Utah, but their Onion Rings are absolutely amazing too and you can create your own combination if nothing off the menu appeals. I love the fact that they have an array of American drinks and sweets on offer... Root Beer is NOT for me...and they offer a loyalty card where you get your 10th Hot Dog free!

It never seems to be busy which is nice as it definitely feels like a little secret place to eat, the decor is really cute with quotes such as "Eating three sensible, well balanced meals will only spoil your appetite for Hot Dogs." and "I'll diet when the earth runs out of food." The food has always been good and the prices are reasonable. Whenever we're stuck for somewhere to eat Primo's is always a winner.

New Look: Spring Picks...

My wardrobe is in need of a huge overhaul, there's no qualms about it, but when spring hits it sends me into a dilemma; Shorts? Jumpers? Sandals? Boots?! The British weather has us all on standby with brolly in hand. Here I've picked out a few little pieces from New Look that will keep you looking stylish in these uncertain Spring months...

Striped Midi Skirt £14.99, Coral Cropped Jumper £14.99 and Rose Gold Necklace £6.99
I've been after a pair of cut-out boots for a while and these £59.99 ones are at a great price point. The cut outs look gorgeous teamed with ankle socks and add a tough edge to girly tea dresses. White is making waves on the high street at the minute and I'm falling hard for white handbags. This one has a high-end luxe feel to it and is a definite steal at just £39.99.

I love a good knee length dress, team it with Aztec prints and you've pretty much got me sold. I'd team this Midi with this Neon Clutch Bag for a girly night out. For those chillier days, this Oversized Blazer is perfect, roll up the sleeves for some extra detail and let your shirt cuffs show through.

What are your Spring picks? Let me know in the comments below!

Restaurant Review: Red's True Barbecue Leeds...

Ok, I am in no way a food blogger and don't really know a lot about food, but I DO know a good restaurant when I see it (well, eat at it) and Red's True Barbecue is definitely one of those. I've been meaning to try Red's since my friend's boyfriend became a chef there and I was told how amazing the food was, and a few weeks ago me and the boy went down to check it out.
"Red prepares your meat way in advance of it reaching your plate, giving it time to soak up the rich flavours of our trademark blend of rubs and marinades for no less than 24 hours. Then, it's cooked low n' slow – for up to 18 hours – over Hickory and fruit woods inside our custom Oklahoman smokers. Then we'll add the best sauces and sides your tongue will touch and serve them to you, our faithful flock. Our cooking has its roots in the deep south, but our food and ingredients are sourced from Yorkshire, God's country. World-class quality, locally sourced.
So gather, feast and enjoy True Barbecue and spread the word of Red."

Situated on at the top of Call Lane opposite the Corn Exchange, Red's is all about the Meat; Ribs, burgers and steaks smothered in an array of smokes and sauces... If you've ever seen Man v. Food you can imagine where I'm going with this! (In fact they have some eating challenges of their own ... 1 Metre of Onion Rings and Devil Hot Wings anyone?) Each dish comes with recommendations for drinks, from beers to shakes, which is a great idea. The source all of their ingredients locally and have a genuine passion for food.

I went for the Donut Burger... Yep... Steak burgers, cheese, fried onions and dirty sauce sandwiched between two sweet glazed donuts... I can tell you now, it was worth every single one of the 2000+ calories! It tasted amazing, the perfect balance between sweet and savoury.
The boy went for the Pit Burger, which was piled high with brisket, pulled pork, bacon and cheese and from the giant mouthfuls and empty plate, this was definitely a hit with him.

The service was great, really quick and the staff were upbeat and genuinely interested in what they were serving. We went around 3PM and there was no queue, but usually there's a pretty long wait for a table, they offer to take your number and call you when a table is ready for you, so you can go and enjoy a drink down Call Lane in the mean time. The decor of the restaurant consists of wooden tables and chairs, an open kitchen and chalkboard menus giving it a real American BBQ Restaurant feel. There are big communal tables (think Wagamamas) as well as 2/4 seating tables making it a great place for a big get together (they do sharing platters of meat!) with friends. I've just seen on Facebook that they've started doing a Brunch menu too; Hash Browns, Waffles and Bacon... Yuuuum.

If you're in Leeds, you definitely NEED to check out Reds, I for one can't wait to eat there again!

Let me know about what you think of these types of posts, I'm thinking of doing a series about places in Leeds to go and to eat at, so please leave a comment below if you've found any gems in the city.

OPI Who the Shrek are You?...

This weeks Manicure Monday is a result of obsessing for almost a week over Jessie J's nails from last weeks The Voice. I dug out OPI's Who the Shrek are You? from the depths of my polish collection to get the look myself.

This colour literally photographs NOTHING like it actually looks, it is a true 'Shrek' green, very bright and more green toned than yellow. The formula, as with all OPI nail polishes, is lovely. The colour was opaque in two coats but I added three to intensify it.
Looking at my nails, the colour is a middle ground between these two photos, not quite neon green but not a dull yellow green and is pretty close to the colour Jessie was wearing. It's so much nicer on the nails than I first thought so it definitely won't be sitting unloved in my collection anymore!

If anyone actually knows what colour she was wearing please let me know!

Spring Nails...

Look! The sun's finally coming out, we can all now breathe a big sigh of relief in the knowledge that we've not entered a second ice age, and say HELLO SPRING 2013!

To get myself in the Springtime feeling, I had a little spring clean of my nail polish collection (items for sale here) and picked out a few of my favourite polishes for the season.

Spring Nail Polish Colours
I feel like I should be handing this to my parents in a kind of "look what I did at school" way, but I saw this on essie-button, and thought it was a cute way of swatching the polishes without ruining my current manicure.
Spring Nail Polish Colours
Spring Nail Polish Colours
OPI Rumples Wiggin', Sally Hansen Kook A Mango, Rimmel Peppermint, Orly Rage, Primark Beauty Blue
Funnily enough I'm not a huge pastel lover in the Spring. I prefer brighter hues (maybe its because i'm constantly looking forward to the Summer), but OPI's Rumples Wiggin' will always be one of my faves, it's just the perfect lavender colour. I think my favourite has to be Orly Rage, but I absolutely love the Primark periwinkle blue colour. Do any of you know a dupe for this? Mine's already running out and I don't think Primark stock the set anymore!

Leave your Spring nail colour recommendations below.

Favourites & More: March 2013...

Ok so this year is going so quickly! March has been full of snow, illness and good food. It started with a trip back home to see the parents and a stop off at The Deep. I was so uninterested in this place when I was younger, but I felt like a little kid looking around it at the grand age of 21. If you like that sort of thing I'd definitely recommend a visit! Here's how my month panned out in photos...

March in photos:
Hotdogs at Primo's// My nail polish collection// Trinity Leeds opening show// Johnnie Cupcakes// Winter dressing in Spring// Snow and floral wellies// Donut burger at Reds True Barbecue// Neon frog at The Deep// The Easter bunny came// The boyfriend indulging in a little manicure// More snow!// Starting my Tiny Tea Teatox// Easter bunny ears!
Favourite products of March:
Hands down my favourite product of this month has been my Tiny Tea (first impressions post here). I've absolutely loved drinking it,how it's made me feel and the effects its had on my skin.

Products wise, I've been loving my L'Oreal Rouge Caresse lipstick in Impulsive Fuchsia. Its a bright blue toned pink and the moisturising formula's been great for this cold weather. Rimmel's new Lash Accelerator is all that has been gracing my lashes since I've bought it and I've even felt no need for eyeliner this month!

The Paul Mitchell Moisture is a product which has been going unloved in my collection for an age. I pulled it out a couple of weeks ago and spritzed it all over my hair before straightening and loved how smooth and soft my hair felt. This in conjunction with the TRESemmé conditioner have combated the frizz from the cold air/heating attacks. OPI's Excuse Moi! is another re-discovery from the depth of my glitter polish box and has graced my nails so much this month. I'm currently selling the rest of the collection here

In terms of randoms, I've been loving Haribo Giant Strawbs (BEST SWEETS EVER!) and the Photobox service. You get 60 free prints when you sign up and I've finally got around to printing out all of my Graduation photos and brightening up my room.

Favourite Blogs of March:
Nouvelle Daily and I Covet Thee have been my favourite reads of March, and I've newly discovered COPPER GARDEN. I've also been hooked on the gorgeous Kavita from She Wears Fashion, her outfit posts are always so beautiful!

What I listened to in March:
I have been addicted to both Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience (I've just re-fallen in love with the JT in general!) and Bastille's Bad Blood albums this month.

What I watched in March:
I managed to storm through the first two seasons of Game of Thrones, absolutely loving it and start watching Breaking Bad, which I'm not quite loving just yet.

I hope you like this new favourites layout/post. What have you been loving this month?
