What's on my iPhone?...

I saw this tag video on one of my recent YouTube catch-up sessions and thought it would transpire well into a blog post. I love seeing what apps people use on a day to day basis so here's what my iPhone 5 is loaded up with: ...

Event: #shhealthysmile at Everyman Cinema

At the beginning of the month, I was invited down to the Everyman Cinema in Leeds by the lovely team over at Simplyhealth to enjoy a good ol' giggle with my Sister...

YourTea Tiny Tea Teatox

So here we are 7 days into my Tiny Tea Teatox and I've really enjoyed it! The first thing I noticed is how much my skin has cleared up. I genuinely didn't think that this was a benefit of the tea, considering it is essentially a 'weight loss' system ...

Coral Ombre Nails

Not a perfect ombré, but these colours look so good together that I can forgive the fact that I don't have five perfectly gradiented coral tones in my nail polish collection ...

Caroline Hirons Inspired Skincare Wishlist: Evening...

I've been really getting into the science behind skincare recently and Caroline Hirons' blog BeautyMouth is a fountain of knowledge on the subject, and using her blog I've come up with a wishlist of gorgeous skincare for my blemish prone skin. You can check out my 'Morning Routine' here.

The purpose of an 'Evening Routine' is to - as Caroline says - help your skin help itself, by removing all makeup and nasties the day throws at you and giving it all the nutrients it needs.

Caroline Hirons Evening Skincare for Acne Prone Skin
Cleanse:
First Cleanse - Bioderma to get rid of the top layer of makeup and grime and make it easier for the next step.

Second Cleanse - DHC Deep Cleansing Oil makes cleansing my skin such an easy task and it dissolves everything in its path whilst nourishing my skin. Doing this ensures that I actually wash my face rather than giving it the cotton pad treatment.

Tone:
Using the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask will ensure that my skin is prepped and all dead skin cells are sloughed away. Acid is good for your skin! This is a mask formula so a bit more pampering for the night time. I'd stay away from a hydrating toner on a night time as I think the rest of the products I've picked have hydration covered.

Eye Cream:
I absolutely love the GinZing Eye Cream and I don't think that it is just for the daytime at all. It's lovely and light but moisturising enough that you see a difference.

Treatments:
The Esteé Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum is something that has been on my wishlist for such a long time. It has recently been reformulated too which is most definitely a sign that I should pick it up soon. I'd use this to hydrate my skin and help with scarring and blemishes. I've heard great things about the Una Brennan range from boots though and the Superfacialist Miracle Makeover Facial Oil seems like a great (and cheaper) alternative. I'd definitely pop on some Origins Super Spot Remover on any active blemishes I have as this seems to shrink the blemish overnight without drying out my skin too much.

Moisturise:
Hydraluron is one of those cult beauty product that is raved about a lot in the Beauty Community and I really want to give it a go. It contains hyaluronic acid which can hold a ridiclous amount of moisture and lock it into the skin. Using this before a moisturiser makes it more effective. I would also pick up the Origins Drink Up Intensive to add some much needed hydration to my skin.

What's your night time routine like? Do you have any recommendations for my acne prone skin?

Much Love,

Lauran

What's on my iPhone?...

I saw this tag video on one of my recent YouTube catch-up sessions and thought it would transpire well into a blog post. I love seeing what apps people use on a day to day basis so here's what my iPhone 5 is loaded up with:

Marc Jacobs Katie Bunny iPhone 5 CaseiPhone 5 Lock Screen

My case is the Marc Jacobs Katie Bunny it's made of silicone which makes it really durable. My lock screen is currently a photo of my boyfriend walking through some fields from a recent trip to a local farm. I love photos like this!

iPhone 5 Apps for Bloggers

I am so anal with the layout of my phone, I like it to be in a particular order and HATE using those categories. My background is a bunch of flowers my boyfriend sent me for our anniversary whilst he was away in Tomorrowland.

The top row of apps contains my daily necessities, the calendar (which I don't really use, it's just there for the date and to count down how many days it is until payday), my contacts, clock for the alarm and photos, which I use for my job as well as snapping random occurrences  My second, third and fourth rows are all pretty much social network based and I check these obsessively... I think I may have a problem. I keep a bookmark link to my blog on here too as I can quickly reply to comments and double check what has gone live from it.

iPhone 5 Facebook Pages App L'Amour Lauran

I use pages to update and run my Facebook page for my Blog...

...and Bloglovin' to keep up to date with the Blogs that I follow. This is far better than the Blogger app and makes reading blogposts on the iPhone so much more enjoyable. I wish it made it easier to post comments though, I always forget to!

iPhone 5 Reminders App #BBloggers

The only reminder set on my phone is for the #BBloggers chat on a Sunday evening. I've really got into taking part in this chat in recent weeks, all of the bloggers who take part are amazing, have fantastic advice and of course are huge enablers.

iPhone 5 Apps for Bloggers
iPhone 5 Photography Apps for Bloggers

My second page has all of the apps I use less frequently. The "Near Me" app is fantastic if you're in an unfamiliar city and want to find something, the app connects with Google Maps to direct you to where you need to go. I have the Blogger app on there just in case I need to make some on-the-go changes to my posts and WhatsApp to keep in contact and send photos to friends who don't have iPhones or are in another country. I use notes quite regularly when an idea comes to my head and I don't have a notebook to hand, it is quite basic, but it does the job.

My favourite section has to be my photography category (yes, it does annoy me that they are in a category) which contains Nostalgio which I use to create collages, A Beautiful Mess and Over which I use to edit and Mirrorgram and Visage Lab to add effects.

The only apps that are really missing are organisational/planning type apps. Do you have any recommendations?

Much Love,
Lauran

Caroline Hirons Inspired Skincare Wishlist: Morning...

I've been really getting into the science behind skincare recently and Caroline Hirons' blog BeautyMouth is a fountain of knowledge on the subject, and using her blog I've come up with a wishlist of gorgeous skincare for my blemish prone skin.

The purpose of 'Morning Routine' is to prep your skin for the day ahead and with that in mind, here are my wishlist picks for my ideal morning routine:

Caroline Hirons Morning Skincare for Acne Prone Skin
Cleanse:
I'd use my favourite cleanser the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil as it gets rid of grime without stripping my skin and leaves it nourished. Blemish prone skin should always stay away from foaming cleansers as this strips back the natural oils. This is something I wish I had learned sooner as my skin instantly looked and felt better with the change.

Tone:
Acid - I really want to get my mitts on the Pixi Glow Tonic, but this is so hard to come by considering I don't live in London. I think the Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Toner is a great daytime alternative. I've always heard great things about the Clarins skincare ranges. Acid is great for acne prone skin as it unblocks pores and gets rid of dead skin cells.

Hydration - Caudalie Beauty Elixir and the harder-to-come-by La-Roche Posay Serozinc wake up and hydrate the skin.

Eye Cream:
I'm going to stick to a tried and tested one here and say the GinZing Eye Cream from Origins. It has a pearlescent light reflecting property which disguises under eye bags like no other.

Treatments:
At this point I'll throw on my all-time-favourite skincare saviour that is the La-Roche Posay Effaclar Duo to combat my blemishes.

Moisturise:
Another Origins product here, the GinZing Moisturiser aims to brighten the complexion and as it is not too heavy, it won't interfere with makeup application.

Do you have any steps you like to include in your morning routine? Check back on Tuesday for my wishlist for the perfect evening routine.

Much Love,

Lauran

Mac Creme Cup and Rimmel Be Famous Vinyl Gloss: A Match Made in Heaven...

Rimmel Vinyl Gloss and MAC Creme Cup Cremesheen Lipstick
Rimmel Vinyl Gloss and MAC Creme Cup Cremesheen Lipstick Swatches
Top: MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Creme Cup
Bottom: Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in Be Famous
MAC Creme Cup
MAC Creme Cup

Whilst rummaging through my lipstick collection I stumbled upon my first ever MAC purchase, Creme Cup, a soft dusky pink colour which is perfect for everyday wear. The colour doesn't seem to sit right on my skin tone which is why it hasn't seem much love of late. My love of a peachy pink lip made me dig it out of my collection and pair it up with Rimmel's Vinyl Gloss in Be Famous. The outcome was to die for and this combination has been gracing my lips on a daily basis. The formulation of the Vinyl Gloss means the overall combination is lightweight, non sticky and hangs around long enough to knock back a few drinks before it needs a top up.

Barry M Berry Ice Cream...

I absolutely love lavender/lilac toned nail polish at this time of year, it is just one of those colours which goes with everything and injects that little bit of florally goodness into an outfit.

L'Oréal Super Liner Brow Artist...

When I was sent a collection of goodies from L'Oréal recently I let out a little scream. I will be doing a post specifically for the rest of the products, but I couldn't wait to show you all my favourite product from the bunch, the Super Liner Brow Artist.

L'Oréal Super Liner Brow Artist in 03 Brunette - £5.49 (*)
This double ended pencil is literally best product to grace my brows and is all that I have been using to add shape, definition and control to them recently. The product is really unique in that it is double ended with a wax to set the pencil at the other end. If you've ever experienced smudged brows I'd definitely recommend you check this product out.

The results that the Super Liner Brow Artist give are bold but natural. The colour I received was Brunette and although a little dark and red toned it matches pretty well to my natural brow colour. I do love a good old bold brow (balances out my huge forehead) and with this pencil you can create hair-like strokes, soften with the groomer and keep it all in place with the Wax pencil.

What do you think of the results, will you be giving the L'Oréal Super Liner Brow Artist a go?

Much Love,

Introducing BeautyDept.com and Lily Lolo...

A few weeks a go I was sent some lovely products to try by BeautyDept.com an online UK beauty department store showcasing many of our favourite brands such as St.Tropez, Jessica and Elemis alongside some new launches. Lily Lolo is one of the original founders of all natural mineral makeup in the UK and has recently expanded due to it's ever growing customer base. I was kindly sent some gorgeous products to review.
Lily Lolo Flawless Matte Finishing Powder
Lily Lolo Flawless Matte Finishing Powder (*) - £12.49
The standout product in this bunch has to be the Flawless Matte Finishing Powder which seriously beats my Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in terms of oil control and base longevity. My make up still looks perfect at the end of a 10 hour day working and a walk home in the summer sunshine! The powder is incredibly finely milled and glides onto the skin, without clinging to dry patches. I've been using my Real Techniques Contour Brush to lightly dust this product all over my face, concentrating on my nose, cheeks and forehead where my natural oils usually shine through. The result is matte and flawless without the cakey look some powders can give.
Lily Lolo Mineral Blush in Surfer Girl (*) - £7.29
I've also fallen in love with the gorgeous mineral blush in
Surfer Girl, it is the most beautiful pink on the cheeks which pairs perfectly with bronzer. This is so pigmented that you only need the tiniest amount for a natural pop of colour to the cheeks.
Lily Lolo Star Dust Mineral Bronzer (*) - £12.49
The highlighting product Star Dust was a little bit of a let down however. The product lies more on the glittery side of proceedings and doesn't really give that glow you want from a highlighting product. This would far better suit sun kissed skin to add a post holiday glow.

The packaging is perfect for mineral make up; with lockable sifters and secure lids and outer casing there is no way you're going to be wasting any product. Just carefully tap some product into the lid, swirl in your brush and gently buff the product onto your skin.

I am so impressed with the Lily Lolo products I have that I can't wait to try more!

Much Love,
